When I was young I notice a box of sand in the basement of our home and now I got one too. After pulling out all my new carrots from ground I do I preserve them and I remembered get a clean sand and buried my carrots, now we will have fresh carrots all winter long. Now thanks the a cheap way to preserve my carrots

A: It certainly can be used around a fire pit. It is fine and easily built up around stones or an old tire rim.

A: I would say no. I rinsed this about 3 or 4 times the amount I would for silica sand purchased at the pet store. It never really washed clean. From the 2 liters of sand I put into a 5 gallon bucket, and rinsing for about 30 minutes (this includes dumping and run-off) I had only about 1 liter of sand left and it was still very murky. In the end I decided not to even try to put it in my aquarium. Too much of a risk. Going with pool filter sand or something from the pet store would be a safer bet.
