You can keep out uncomfortable cold drafts and lower your utility bills by installing weatherstripping on your door. Weatherstripping can also help reduce outside noise and provide interior comfort. You will be able to breeze through this task by following these simple steps.
Step
Start by measuring the width of your door.
Step
Transfer this measurement to the new sweep and mark it.
Step
Use the scissors or utility knife to cut the rubber seal.
Step
Use the hack saw to cut it to length.
Step
Hold the sweep against the door and mark where the screws will go.
Step
Select a bit slightly smaller than the screws supplied.
Step
Drill pilot holes on the door.
Step
Hold the door sweep in place and begin driving the screws.
Don't tighten them down just yet.
Step
This particular sweep has slots for the screws rather than holes.
It allows you to adjust the height of the sweep to best cover the door opening.
Step
Tighten all screws once the best seal has been achieved.
Step
Operate the door a few times to check the seal, and you're done!
