Light up your backyard with these simple DIY Mason jar lanterns that can be hung or placed around your patio.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
- White Tea Lights
- Aquarium Substrate
Step
Start by removing the lids from the mason jar
Step
Fill the jar with 3/4 cup of aquarium substrate (or sand)
It secures the tea light to prevent shifting within the jar
Step
Pop in the tealight
The base of the mason jar is now done
Step
Cut a piece of paper twine that is three times the circumference of the lid of the jar
Step
Take the ring part of the lid and slip the twine through
Tie decorative knots (i.e.: fisherman's knot) on either side of the lid
Step
Screw on the lid to keep the knots in place
Apply a bit of pressure
Step
And you're done!
Hang under your gazebo and/or string a line of them to create a summer glow!
