It’s easier than you think to create a beautiful ombré cake, provided you have the right tools.
Roll out sugar cookie dough
Put chilled sugar cookie dough on a floured surface and sprinkle with additional flour. Using a rolling pin, roll out to 1/2 –inch thickness.
Cut out stars
Using a star-shaped cookie cutter, cut out cookies.
Insert paper sticks
Arrange cookies on a rimmed baking sheet covered in parchment paper. Insert a paper stick into each cookie.
Bake cookies until lightly browned.
Transfer cookies to cooling rack and let cool completely.
Prepare icing bag
Fit an icing bag with a small round icing tip and fill it with royal icing.
Pipe an outline of icing onto the cookie before filling it in. Add additional patterns in a contrasting colour, if desired.
Place sugar pearl sprinkles as desired.
