They went back to the store
This set is just gorgeous. The colours match our decor beautifully, the the pieces themselves are heavy and very sturdy. The bowls are designed perfectly for those who like to have their soup or cereal in front of the tv. However, when we had only used the set for just under a month I noticed black marks not only from my cutlery on the plates but also dark discolouration around the rim. Upon closer inspection, the finish was coming off in some places, right down to the bare stoneware. The only reason we had purchased new dishes was because we wanted a change from our 15 year old stoneware, which incredibly was in great condition when compared to the Cuisinart set. What gives? Does this company think they can cheap out on their manufacturing process without consumers noticing?

Very happy with this dinnerware
I don't know what the reviewer who complained about black marks was using for cutlery, but I have used these plates for two months, including family gatherings, and they show no sign of any marks, black or otherwise. They seem to be very good quality, well-glazed stoneware, and I'm very happy with them.

The Worst purchase ever!!!
I was so happy to have finally found a beautiful set of dinnerware until I used them. Every time we ate on them our utensils left black permanant markings on them. Very disappointed especially after I purchased not 1 but 6 sets. The worst purchase ever.
