I bought this Salton as a back up for my home, or to cook outdoors when it is too hot in the summer to cook inside. I have an older model at model that I'm very happy with, and thought this one would equal it. Unfortunately, I find this new model's control setting to be very poor. When it is turned "ON", it seems to only work on high -- even if you turn the knob to "medium", or lower, (to simmer), it just keeps heating on "HIGH" -- quickly burning food, if you are not watching it! Even on "LOW" setting, the power does not seem to simmer -- food keeps boing away!
I exchanged one unit because of this, only to find the replacement unit also had this problem. So...prepare to cook on "HIGH" power, only! I cannot rely on mine to "simmer"....which makes the controls a joke.
I still rate it okay because it IS good for what I need it for ... outdoors cooking. But, overall, I am disappointed, especially since my older model Salton does not give me these problems.

great cooking
This works great cooks faster than a stove top so you have to be watchful not to burn food. I like it and the price is great. I use it because my apt. doesn't have a stove and between it and the microwave I get by. Its a good product been using it for three months now. Only point against it is that the numbers on the dials printing should have been etched in because it rubs off.

Great price for a great product :)
I recently bought the Salton Double Burner as cooking elements. We got rid of our full size stove when an element blew and the cost of replacing it was worth more than the stove. We have purchased a countertop convection oven and this double burner replaces the elements we used to have on the stove (well, two of them anyway). This sleek unit is easy to keep clean and takes up very little room on my counter top. I like that there are two sizes of burners and the control knobs are great. The controls go from low to medium to high and degrees in between each. My hydro bill has gone way down since getting rid of my stove and this burner unit along with my convection oven means I don't miss the old stove at all. At $30. this is a very affordable and well made burner unit. I would recommend this to anyone as a back up burner when you need more than your stove top burners or for people like me that choose to replace your stove altogether.

Great little appliance
This is a great product. I use it in my university dorm room and it does the trick. The burners aren't the same size (as mentioned in other reviews), but that's fine for me. Elements heat up quickly, and I haven't had any trouble keeping it clean.
A couple reviews mentioned that it only has a High/Low option. However, my unit has High - Medium - Low, with 3 intervals between each setting. Maybe it's something they added on an updated model (I purchased mine in November 2009), but you CAN set the heat to medium or anything in between!
Great purchase. The slightest of complaints is the elements are kind of smooth, so the pots slide easily. This might be due it to being new, and may me a bit inconvenient at times. However I noticed the more I'm using it the less it slides so I don't think it'll be a long term issue. I highly recommend this product!

Excellent product!!
I continually use it as a primary souce for cooking. I can control the set point at which the food is cooked. It cycles on and off in order to control the cooking temperature. A lot of value for an inexpensive product.

Great little cooktop!
I bought this cooktop for my camper so that I didn't have to rely on propane all the time. It works great for cooking breakfast, especially. It like the fact that it's portable so I can ake it outside to cook especially if I'm BBQing at the same time. Only problem I had with it is the temperature controls. You pretty much only have Hi or Lo, not much of a happy medium.

Very Good Back Up
We are using this 2 burner stove along with occasionally BBQing to cook for our family of 5 during our 8 week kitchen renovation. The large burner heats up very quickly and the small one is good for simmering. It plugs into a regular plug and so is versatile. I think it will be an excellent stove to use even after the kitchen renovation for extra burners needed for large parties, kids going away to college and messy cooking such as large quantities of tomato sauce. I would recommend it as a good back up system.

A good back-up
I bought one for doing canning outside. I found that my canning pot was much too large and this burner just did not have the power to boil a large stock pot of water.
I am keeping it though for a back-up or for smaller cooking jobs outside. I think it will come in handy some day!

excellent power
this little burner has as much power as you will ever need to do daily meals with, boils very quickly and is a snap to clean with a durable coating. Excellent value.
