Well Worth the Price!
This dish is great - we got it for Christmas and it has been wonderful to cook with. Cleans up easily, and easy to care for. Make sure to follow the instructions for proper drying to ensure it does not get rusty! Excellent gift!

Great purchase when on sale !
"The reviewer who posted on March 19, 2013 ''Worked well while it lasted' is reviewing the wrong casserole dish. That poster reviewed the previous model which had a white enamel interior and was discontinued last year [apparently certain Asian made white enameled interiors had durability problems for several brands, not just Kitchenaid]. Kitchenaid has since replaced with a new model having a black enamel interior which should be more durable. I purchased the black enamel pot in September 2012 when on sale along with its corresponding lasagna pan and am equally pleased with both. Use the pot 1-2 times a week and have in the oven: braised roast pork, made beef stew & even baked a small round bread. On stove top: simmered smoked meat, made coquille St. Jacques, mac & cheese, reheated soup, etc.. and am very happy with Kitchenaid performance on both stove top and oven. The lasagna pan I use once a week in oven and have made cannelloni, lasagna, roast chicken, cinnamon buns and even poached fish. I also own a few pricey French brand enameled cast iron pots, with both white or black enamel, and have to admit that Kitchenaid performs equally as well. Yes, their durability is still left to be seen since new product and under a year of ownership. However, both the pot and pan have held up without any quality issues and I bear no complaints. Mine look as good and sturdy from day one both inside and out. I recommend these highly to anyone on a budget who wants to start owning enameled cast iron and is willing to treat with the utmost care, without feeling obliged to have to spend big bucks on the French ones. Pot is nice as a test piece. Overall, you get the same performance on the Kitchenaid as with the French ones. Great potential !

worked well while it lasted...
Used sporadically over the year, no more than 1x per week. Enamel on the interior began to flake and chip off despite only hand washing with a nylon scrubby and only non metallic utensils. Total waste of money ...Told it was "out of warranty" /discontinued

love this dish
I have the previous model andI use it for all kinds of dishes, on the stove and in the oven. It does a great job on all of them and clean up is a snap. Flavour of roasts is wonderful, and it really is self basting when is roasting mode. Am gifting one to a friend this Christmas

One of my best kitchen purchases!
My friends told me that they loved their French cast iron casseroles, which I thought were always overpriced and way too heavy for daily use. Then I saw this Kitchenaid Pro cast iron casserole on sale and decided to give it a try. I am so glad that I did! It's absolutely wonderful - the cast iron is fantastic for heat distribution and retention, and my food cooks so well in the casserole - as a result, I can make a stew much more quickly here! Clean-up is easy here too as the cast iron has a nice, black enamel coating on the inside. After I got used to it, the weight is no longer an issue. The red exterior is beautiful to look at too. Now I am a total convert to cast iron cooking!
