Sanding Ease
I have had this sander for a few years now. Love the size. Not too large for a woman's hand. Very easy to change the sandpaper. And so much easier than using a sanding block!! Love it.

handy but loud
I got this one several years ago and have used it for a variety of uses. You don't have to buy special sandpaper, as you can just cut a standard sheet of sandpaper into 4 equal squares and it clamps down at the two opposite sides. Makes replacing sandpaper much more affordable.
It sands differently than an orbital sander though. If I had to choose, I'd go with an orbital over this type of sander, even though with those sanders, you need special sandpaper which increases cost of using the tool. I'd rather get the right tool for the job than saving on sandpaper. Just a thought.

some serious problems...
Most reviews are rating this item very high. But for my purposes this sander had some serious problems.
I purchased it for sanding the inside of cabinets, so I needed a tool that would get into corners (with high sides). HOWEVER, the handles of the clamp-downs stick out of the side and will gouge the wood as it vibrates along the edge. (I have tried to rebend them -- it helped, but compromised the amount of pressure on the sandpaper). The other thing is that the on/off switch housing sticks out further then the front edge of the sandpaper. And finally, the back end can't be used for edges because of the bag attachment. Consequently it cannot sand right tight against any edge and will not work for sanding in corners (with high sides).
I've used other more expensive palm sanders, and their dust control was far superior... possibly if a vacuum attachment was provided this might work more effectively. (Yes, I did puncture holes in the sandpaper with the hole-plate, and I made sure that the holes are not plugged.)
Maybe for the price of this sander it's rating is okay or average, but for a few small changes Mastercraft could make this a far better product.

works great good warranty
I purchased this sander even after reading all the reviews about dust problems. I have not had these problems and the small dust catcher seems to works properly.
I was wondering if the people who had the dust problems had remembered to use the included plate to punch the dust collection holes in the sand paper after mounting the paper on the sander !!!!!!! the dust cannot get to the bag if the holes are not punched in the sand paper.
Sander is great value for the price even when not on sale !

Amazing for the price but.......
As some other people mentioned, it is very poor at dust control so if you are using it in a finished home, you will need to cover everything well prior to sanding in that area or find a way to balance the shop vac nozzle to the area you are sanding (awkward solution). Aside from poor dust control the actual sanding is fantastic for such a small device!

Excellent buy
Great sander. Bought it on sale for a little over 20$. I'm using it to sand the drywall compound in my basement I'm finishing and it performs very well. The only negative is the "vacuum/dust bag" is useless as the majority of the dust flies in the air. The workaround I implemented was to duct tape my shop vac hose end to the dust bag holder of the sander and I now have a fantastic working solution. Can't go wrong with this sander so long as your expectations for the dust capturing is low or you have a vac you can tape it to.

Good sander, but poor dust control
We bought a MasterCraft random orbital sander and were quite happy with it until we had to sand a door. One of our bedroom doors stuck in the frame. We used the orbital sander to remove paint and wood, but found it tended to tip because doors are so thin. The result was a lot of rounded corners. We decided to buy a palm sander because it deals better with narrow surfaces than an orbital one. The MasterCraft one on sale and it had a dustbag. The sander itself is great. It worked fine at removing paint and wood until the door closed without sticking. It was great at smoothing the wood for primer and paint. But the dust collection system on this sander is poor in comparison with our orbital sander. It would have left behind a large pile of sawdust if we hadn't used a shop vac to take up the dust as we were sanding. The sander itself is great, but the poor dustbag means you will have a messy cleanup after the job.

Recived this product for christmas from a family member. Sander worked great for me for my applications. I have only owned the sander for a short period of time so i can not comment on the longeviety and duribility of the product, I am hopefull this will be a product I will be able to pass down to my children throughout the years.
