First rate sander
I agree with the other reviewers that this is a great sander. The dust collection is the best I've had, including my Ridgid ROS. I don't get the swirls in the wood that comes when sawdust gets trapped between the sandpaper and the wood.
This is a single speed sander. I checked a lot of websites. Some say variable speed is the only way to go, while others say a single speed is just fine for around the workshop. It doesn't make a difference speed. This sander does an excellent job of stock removal, smoothing a surface for finish, and sanding between coats.

Good tool
Bosch tools are well made and durable, I would wait for a sale before buying.

Excellent sander with great dust filtration
This sander is targeted at home owners and DIYers. It features a 2.5 Amp motor that delivers 12000 orbits per minute. The 5" platen has a standard 8-hole configuration that uses hook and loop sanding discs, which are available just about anywhere. The body is made of high impact ABS with a rubber over mould grip. It comfortable to hold and light enough to be reasonably comfortable to hold for extended periods. It's tall, but well balanced. Vibrations are low compared to my older MasterCraft sounder and the machine is also a fair bit quieter.
The dust filter on this sander actually works very well, but it has to be emptied frequently. You can also hook a 1.25" dust hose to the sander. The canister easily disengages from the sander, and a half dozen sharp raps will dislodge most of the dust. You could then clean it out further with compressed air.
The Bosch would work for anyone needs a sander for large or small projects. It can do a great job sanding using standard sanding discs that you can get anywhere and has a truly effective dust pickup system for a competitive price.
