not bad at all
it spins a bit slow when in reverse and i like backing it into reverse when mixing or wire brushing . but the power makes up for it . truly though, i don't understand some of these guys with bad reviews. i've owned three other MC drills and had no problems with any of them and i used the pants out of my tools. feels a bit heavy on the front end so i only use it for heavy duty work. not practical to one hand it all the time like a lighter/ shorter drill

If you are going to buy a hammer drill..........
If you are going to buy a hammer drill, do yourself a favor and get a real hammer like a decent rotary SDS/SDS Plus. I tried this one out and after 2 small holes I returned it. I then went to another store and bought a Ryobi Rotary SDS for 10 bucks less than the regular price of this one and the difference was like night and day.

SHAGG
This is the second drill #54-2912-0 in three days.
Both were on sale for $79.49.
Both drills seized after one hour of light duty hammer drill setting. Using only a 3/16" concrete bit to a depth of 1-1/2".I managed to drill only 12 of the 24 holes I required for my project prior to having the drill seize and overheat.
I exchanged the drill, only to have the second one fail (seize and overheat) after only 5 holes of the same size.
I now have a refund card to purchase any other product in any Canadian Tire store.
All Canadian Tire stores in my area do not carry a comparable hammer drill offered by Bosch, Rigid, Hilti, or Makita.
Do not purchase this product unless you want to be disappointed with the performance or you have time to exchange the drill several times prior to completing light duty tasks.

Great Value!!!!
I purchased this drill on sale for $59.99. It has been worth all the money. I have used it many times to drill into concrete and brick, and it has accomplished the job with ease. You just need a good bit, and the drill will perform. I didn't rate the drill at 5 stars only because the hammer is not the strongest. It will do the job but nothing like a Bosch hammer drill. For the value, it is a great hammer drill to do work around the house and definetely makes jobs a lot easier.

Nice Quality Hammer Drill
Bought this at 50% off and not regretted it. I've used it for drilling holes in concrete and mixing mortar and grout. I recommend this model if you do not need a chisel function on you hammer drill.

A good unit for light to medium use.
I bought this on sale to replace my #54-2951-6 hammer drill which I owned for about 4+ years.
It appears do be well constructed, slightly heavy but still comfortable to use in all postions, keyed chuck operates smoothly.
I took a temperature reading on the motor housing with a digital laser and recorded 50C after drilling a 3/16 hole in old concrete with a good masonary drill bit, that gives me some concern, considering the unit sat idle for about 2 minutes before I took the temperature reading.
I noticed no speed difference in drilling holes between the #54-2951-6 and this one.
I'm confident this unit will last longer than the previous one but will keep an eye out on the temperature issue.

Good overall
I have had this drill for a couple of years now and have been happy with its performance. It is perfect for those hammerdrilling jobs that need a little less percussion then an sds type of drill, also the bits are cheaper :). It is very capable of doing the jobs it is intended for. I have used it for drilling holes in concrete floors for laying down plates for walls, drilling 3/4" holes through joists for wiring, attached mixing paddles for mixing mortar and grout, the list goes on.. The only beefs are that the hammer on/off switch seems flimsy but it has never let me down and the chuck key holder ripped but i just taped the chuck to the cord. Great drill

Great Drill and Great Warranty
I owned one of the first model Maximum Hammer Drills and it worked great for years. I recently had to return it due to a problem and Canadian Tire gave me this new model as the old one is no longer made. This model is even better than the last and more durable. I can't wait to use it more in the coming years.
