A fair analysis

"First off I agree with those other reviewers who essentially stated that if you want to do
large jobs or want to "force" a tool, this is not the tool for you. Please don't buy it as it is too much to ask a tool that only costs $50.00 (as of this writing) on sale to do. If you want a handy little saw that's very easy to control unless you have smaller hands this is a Great little saw to have around. The blade guard release is the sore point of this saw and that part of the design needs to be reworked. Yes, there's safety concerns with this kind of equipment but sometimes having to fiddle with safety devices can create concerns of their own. Treat this saw with respect and it will no doubt serve you for years. If you want a table saw or a sliding mitre saw, they go on sale too and you can cut large pieces of wood with them to your heart's content.
But by all means buy this saw, remember you have it at your disposal and use it carefully to do some really nice work. For the price you still can't beat it. Mine works great for me."

Hand gets hot

"I have written a review about this before but I just used the tool in building my new fence. I used this to rip fence boards in the absence of a table saw. Cuts very straight. Gets bogged down on wet wood like pressure treated pine, but gets the job done. Previously I had used this to rip laminate flooring and it went through that stuff like butter! Decent tool for the money."

Poorly designed product

"Normally Mastercraft tools are great, never had a problem, but this unit I have to say is totally junk. Right out of the box the first cut I tried to make on 3/8" OSB, blade jams and the internal gears grind. I tried to go very slow, no luck.

The blade guard is difficult to use, you have to push a button to move the blade while your trying to cut.

Great idea for a small circular saw, but unfortunaly, the motor and drive gear are poor quality, and either breaks or haves no power.

Save your money. Not even worth the sale price.

Sorry canadian tire...."

great for tiles

"I have now tiled my kitchen floor, my front entry, my bathroom floor and my shower wall. I have used this tool to cut both ceramic and travertine stone. It works very very well but requires patience. I take three passes on a ceramic or stone tile to make the cut and it never breaks a tile. Excellent tool.

Have used a it for cutting wood but is not nearly as useful for that. If a Skill saw will do the job it is preferred tool.

I also tried to use on the deck of a fibreglass boat. It does not have the power for that job.

For ceramic tile it is a fabulous tool."

Safety Feature is Dangerous

"Overall this saw works quite good for small jobs. Similar to other reviewers, I suggest buying an actual skill saw if you have a larger job to do. My biggest beef is with the safety feature to allow the gaurd to move out of the way. You have to reach with your opposite hand to push the button, which is quite ackward. It is very frustrating, as this often forces the blade missing the start line for the cut."

Handy tool for a task, not for everything

"I'm ambivalent about this saw. While use it rarely, it's a good tool to have around the house, just as a retractable bit screwdriver or electrical scissors. It faults sometimes when a hard work is required, but you can't beat convenience.

Pros: Compact and convenient, you don't have to set a big saw just to make a few cuts.

Cons: Noisy, and has some dead space during cutting, when you can't see and control much what you are doing. Keep a spare blade, they may break.

Overall good, handy to have - just as retractable bits screwdriver."

the blade runs backwards

have to revise my review on this..

"As the next project I used this on, the bushings totally went kaput on me and it spins excessively without cutting fully.

In principle, the tool is pretty good, but I believe it is poorly constructed. It does not have enough torque or amps to keep it running on thicker stock material. It jammed a few times on me an that is how I ruined the bushings on this. I basically don't use it anymore and am thinking of throwing it away.

It is only good for extremely light duty work. If you have to cut 1/2 inch plywood, use your full sized circular saw instead."

Good, but not Great

"Got this for long rip and precision cuts when it was on sale - Which I recommend for several reasons outlined below

Pros
Easy to control
Excellent accessories
Extra long power cord

Cons
Weak Motor
Difficult to use blade guard
Cutting guide is useless

Overall, not a bad saw but the blade guard almost instantly filling with dust (making the cut line invisible) and a motor that cuts out if you apply any pressure at all makes me question the build quality."

Where can I get an operating manual?

Unless it's against store policy it might be just as easy to see if someone else who has the same saw can scan their manual and email it to you. Just make sure that the manual they copy for you is for the exact product that you have. I'd appreciate any store feedback on this so we're all on the same page, thanks.

If you are looking for the product Id. number, well it depends on the type of blade you are looking for. There's quit a variety, like most circular saws.
You got carbide tip, super fine, Corundum, diamond blade and so on....
Just type '' multi-cutter blades '' on the search box.

If you need the size, they are 85 mm
