Smart buy

"I purchased this compressor on sale. The sales rep was friendly and very knowledgeable. I followed all the start-up instructions and it performs very well. It is more than ample to power my Critter spray gun. It recovers in less than a minute! I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a home do-it-yourself machine."

Great light to medium use compressor

"I've had mine for a couple of years now. Bought it primarily to be used for air brushing, occasional tire inflation, and blow gun use. Mine did come with a "bonus" air tool kit, including impact gun, air chisel, etc.

None of those tools have been used with this compressor. I bought this unit to avoid having to use my larger compressor when I found it on sale for $79. The reason I haven't used the tools that came with it on this compressor is because I don't believe this compressor is designed for those tools.

In a pinch, you might be able to get away with using a air impact or the likes. But the reality is that it's only 5 gallons, meaning it's going to run out of air fast with most larger tools. And the compressor itself isn't rated to generate the air required for those types of tools.

Again, knowing what your requirements are for any tool you purchase is going to go a long way in making sure that you get the best for your money.

I have recently had the opportunity to use it with a Brad nailer and a palm nailer, as well as the other applications I purchased it for. I'm very happy with it's performance. This has proven to be a reliable little unit, and it's very portable. A big plus when you want to take it to a remote location or inside the house.

I gave it 4 out of 5 stars because of two somewhat minor issues. One, it's not balanced the best at the handle. The unit does not remain completely vertical when you pick it up just by the handle. Second, it is louder than I had anticipated. I've seen other compressors with similar specifications that are not as loud. Quieter would be nice for some of my purposes."

Didn't last

"I bought this item on sale a few months back and loved the performance. Unfortunately, the other day when I turned it on, it the tone of the compressor changed and I turned it off. It would not start again.
I can't find the original receipt but will attempt to return it for warranty repair. Hope it works out.
I don't think I would buy another one. It's a little heavy to be considered portable even though I work out at the gym 4 times a week."

Good little compressor

"I received this for Christmas this year, I believe it was purchased on the black Friday sale at $99 and it's a steal at that price.

Everything worked out of the box with no leaks and no problems. Following the advice of some of the reviewers I'll put some synthetic oil in it after the 8 hour break in. This compressor is much quieter than an oil free one. I can actually still hear the radio over it running.

Ditch the hose that comes with it. I don't even know why they include it. I got a nice 3/8 Goodyear rubber hose and some nice brass couplers, much nicer to work with.

I don't know if I'd pay full price but on sale it's a great deal."

very good for the price

"i bought this compresser soley for the fact that i needed something to carry around from small job to small job. i bought it also because it was on sale for 99.00. based on this price, only having it for about a month and using it constantly, i have found this compressor excellent for finishing work. have not tried it for framing, i am extremely happy with this product. the only thing that was not so good about it upon taking it out of the box was that,like others have pointed out, that all connectors and air release valve on the bottom of the tank, were leaking quite bad. after taking all parts off, and putting teflon tape on all parts, had no issues after that. the other thing i would recommend is buying a new pressure relief valve for the bottom of the tank as the one that comes with it lets air out extremely slowly, so i just purchased a lever type ball valve which works way better.
other than that, the compressor is very good for the 99 dollar price"

Solid unit, reasonably quiet, no accessories

I bought this to replace a Campbell Hausfeld FP209402 small 3 gallon oil-less model previously bought at CT because it was too loud to use without hearing protection. Took it apart, nothing I could do to quiet the little beast. It measured at 89 dB A weighted at 1m, but is annoyingly harsh sounding.

This model measures 81 dB A weighted, subjectively is MUCH quieter, no problem working next to it. Refills the bigger tanks in less than half the time. Happy!

CT really needs to include noise measurements in its power tool specifications."

very good compressor

"have been using this compressor for several years now, and it has stood up very well. I use it for running air tools, air nailers, flooring nailers.

It has a fast recovery time, filling the tanks within minutes.

When I first bought it, it would not start in cold weather. The oil that came with it was much too thick.
I drained the old oil out, it was thick as grease. I replaced the oil with a good quality synthetic comressor oil, and have had no further problems.

Speaking of oil, I change the oil once a year, but I do use this compressor a lot."

Didn't Last

"Didn't use it much before it started leaking at a union point that could not be taped. The second one I got under warranty did't work and had to be return. I am now on my third. I have not had the oppertunity using it much, but it appears to be working fine. It is to heavy to move around for small projects around the house. Larger projects where it stays in one place is the best."

Don't touch it for anything

"I bought this unit on sale and thought I had a good deal until the air line blew apart the first time I used it. Had it repaired under warranty and used it for a while before the same thing blew apart again. I called my local store as it was still under warranty but they would do nothing for me in less than 6 weeks so I brought it to a local repair shop at my own expense. They showed me the design flaws that caused the problem and fixed it right.

In the end, I managed to return the product and bought myself another brand. My new compressor has just as much output, is half the size, much lighter and easier to carry, and the volume is a whisper in comparison.

Don't buy it, and if you got is as a gift, return it and buy something else!"

"I use it with my nailer and gun and I top up a tire once in awhile, these ones that take oil last longer then the ones that dont, use the nailer quite frequenly with it and have never had any problems, love it!!!"
