Best investment

"I bought this kit cause it was on sale I only actually needed the air ratchet at the time... but the kit was only 10$ more then the ratchet alone at the time it seemed silly to pass up 3 other tools for 10$ over all its the perfect home mechanic tool set you do need a good compressor tho to get any decent use out of the tools which unfortunately Canadian tire doesn't sell
I think the largest at the time was the 8 gallon with120 psi which I could barely break lugs loose with that unit
This is an upscale tool compared to Canadian tires compressor line up that's its only flaw"

Decent setup

"Got this to do some odd jobs around the house, help with some truck work and so forth.

All in all an ok set. Not sure bout air hammer, the ratchet is fine and works adequate for me. The impact is ok. I am used to very powerful impacts and this one does a fine job. It wont break bolts but eh, on sale your getting more than your monies worth.

Overall I am satisfied with this purchase. I will be getting a more powerful impact though. And I do have a good compressor that easily hits 120lbs.

Get it on sale and you have a nice set of air tools, just remember 3HP compressor or larger for the impact to work well!"

Only purchase on sale!

"I bought this kit on sale for less then half price. I would recommend this product for someone doing the once a year tire change and occasional work around the garage. It comes with a lot of cheap accessories that will probably never be used. The air tools themselves are not great quality but for the price you cant beat it. The impact wrench just had enough power to remove lug nuts at 120 psi on a 30 gallon air compressor. I would not recommend use with a small air compressor."

"Pretty sure the impact gun is made by Ingersoll-Rand! If not, it sure is a really good knock-off. I've been using Ingersoll-Rand model 231 impact guns for 20 years professionally and I'm telling you that when you compare this Mastercraft gun to the $200 plus Ingersoll-Rand gun, there is no difference. Both twin-hammer, both have same regulator adjustments, both have same foward/reverse mechanisms, and both feel the same in size, weight, design. I bought the kit on sale today for $89.88 and it's WELL worth it, just for the impact gun itself. Forget all other reviews here from people who are having trouble with torque and power. GET A BETTER COMPRESSOR, GUYS! That's where the power comes from, you need at least 120 psi to get the power you need. 90 psi is NOT ENOUGH! My cheap 5 gallon Porter-Cable compressor reaches 150 psi and I could break wheel studs off with this impact wrench! All the other tools and accessories in the case are like a FREE BONUS! Absolutely, positively, (coming from a professional) zero complaints on this kit. BTW, I don't do auto mechanics for fun, I do it for a living."

Makes life easy...er

"The kit includes all the basic air tools you need. Used them the other day to change drive belts and do a brake job on my Son's 97 Intrepid. All tools proformed well and sure made the jobs a lot easier. On SALE, the kit is an excellent value.

Only down side is the stupid cheap little oil bottle, you need it, but once opened it tends to leak all over the case. If the supplier upgraded this one item, the kit would be perfect for the shadetree mechanic."

"For 60% off I only paid $100 for this kit, its great and you really can't argue with the quality you get $100. Although I'm a bit disappointed with the selection of sockets, I was hoping to get a few 3/8" sockets for the air ratchet and some larger sized 1/2", its great. Except for the case making the air ratchet a bit difficult to get it out, but all the cases are like that."

"The combination of tools make this a great asset to your compressor. I have used most attachments and some daily. They are handy especially the air driver. This is usually on sale and is a great deal when it is. Suggest you check cfm of compressor to ensure continuous use."

1/2 Impact no torque?

Question:

I just tried using the 1/2" Impact for the first time on a wheel nut and it doesn't budge, I can hold onto the socket and stop it with my hand. Is there an adjustment on this?
I'm using a 15gallon Dewalt 5.4scfm air compressor

You likely do not have enough of an air supply to adequately supply the impact wrench.

Answer:

that compressor would be to small for the use of these tools
check cfm ratings for tools and what the compressor can generate

Answer:

Not recommend because 2G tank is too small and also 75psi pressure is lower, so air tools cannot work properly.

Can the torque be adjusted like a torque wrench?

Question:

I see that the torque is up to 300lb/ft. Can that be adjusted to a specific lb/ft. Such as 90lb/ft?

no there are two regulator settings on the gun
on high the gun only torqued to 100 ld/ft

Answer:

no, a "torque wrench" is what you use to set torque for nuts and bolts. There is no accurate torque setting for the impact wrench, the 300 foot pound torque rating is just a specification of operation.

Sorry, this kind of impact gun can't be adjusted to a specific 90lb/ft , but there is 3 toque adjustment at rear of body , I is around 100lb/ft at 90psi , II is around 230lb/ft at 90PSI , III is around 300lb/ft at 90PSI. Pls note above 3 torque number is just rough idea not very accurate .

Not enough output?

Question:

I have the "Mastercraft Air Cage Compressor", #58-8011-0, which puts out only 4.1 CFM @ 90 PSI, but I like it because of its size and portability, and I only make light use.

If a tool requires 4.8, will it work at all, or just more slowly or what?

it will work, just slower and less powerful operation. Your compressor will kick on a lot using the die grinder or air wratchet tools, but it will work, you might have to pause a lot and wait for the compressor to build up pressure again.

It will work, it just might operate slower and might not produce as much torque. But the biggest impact when your compressor's scfm rating is lower is that if the toold is used continuously (like the grinder, for example), it will drain your tank, so you might need to wait a minute or two for the motor to recharge the tank before you can operate the tool again...

For certain light applications which don't require much torque, I sometimes use the tools from this set with my 2 gallon Jobmate compressor which barely produces 1 scfm @ 90psi (0.7 to be exact). Since yours produces 4.0 scfm @ 90 psi, you should have much better results. Just to give you an idea, here is what happens to each tool when the jobmate is fully charged and produces its peak output (~1scfm @ 90 psi):

-The impact gun operates for less than 30 seconds until it drains the tank, and it doesn't produce enough torque to take off the bolts on a standard tire (85-90 lb/ft).

-The grinder operates at almost full speed, but it drains the tank in under 15 seconds and doesn't have as much "friction" (i.e. it slows down much faster when in contact with something...

-The ratchet operates at half-speed, which is already faster than a hand operated ratchet anyways, but it produces almost no torque... It also drains the tank very quickly.
