"I bought 3 of these batteries 4 years ago. 2 are still going strong and the third has to be replaced. They held their charge over winter layup really well. I am disappointed that the third battery has failed.

One thing that should be made clear. I was told that charging these batteries at more than 15 amp will destroy them. That is probably why the fellow with the RV had such a poor experience."

"I bought this battery when they first were available for my rv. The first one lasted 2 months, the second exchange lasted 3 months and the third lasted 6 months. Not very good track record. I went back to the "wet" deep cycle and have had no problems."

A very powerful battery

"My application required a battery that would withstand vibration, deep-discharging and had to supply many amps. This battery surpassed my expectations. Super powerful and delivers an endless supply of juice. Very durable and a long cycle life."

Charger type compatability

Question:

I have a 2002 Xantrex 10TB charger, with one bank for a gel battery and now this AGM, and the setting is to "G".

I have had to replace the AGM twice in less than 2 months, Why do I have issues? Any feed back greatly appreciated!

Answer:

As you said, this is an AGM battery – the charger in question doesn’t really say that it is meant for AGM batteries – the manual only refers to wet and gel. It sounds like you’ve been using the gel setting which, in my opinion, would leave your AGM battery severely undercharged. My guess is that the folks at Xantrex will tell you to use the wet setting for your AGM battery but ultimately this is a question better directed to folks at Xantrex who made your battery charger.

By the way, if this is a one-bank charger and you’ve got these batteries connected in parallel – then there’s your problem. You should never charger batteries on different type, size and age together as the charging requirements are different and one battery is always destined to fail prematurely.

why does this battery have 50 amp hour rating and the cheaper batery has 100 amp hour rating is thes a miss print

Answer:

It IS a misprint...
If you zoom in on the image it does say 100ah on the extreme right bottom of the battery.
A group 31 deep cycle battery is not likely to be 50 amp hours in this day & age, especially with this AGM technology.

It's not a misprint. The benefit that the AGM spiral grid provides is not longer run time. It is things like faster recharge times, more cycles and incredible vibration resistance.

All this makes it have a longer life than a conventional flooded battery, plus it's non-spillable, non-gasing and mountable in any almost any position.
