Great PFD

"Bought this for regular use in a kayak and, so far, it's worked out well.

+:
- seems well made, of durable materials
- comfortable (most seem to ride up my armpits and neck, and this one doesn't)
- attractive (at least compared to the PFDs of my childhood!)

-:
- seems a little on the short side (but not enough to be uncomfortable or ineffective)

I got this one sale, but it would be worth its regular price. I'd recommend it to anyone."

just an ok product

"at 5 10 this is very small, had to get 2xl/3xl just to get it to fit and still short.
try on first and see if you need larger size.
this is made in china and their sizing is much smaller than north america.
if you get one that fits its ok and adjustable."

What does it use for?

Question:

Is it for floating to save a life or just for keeping warm?

Answer:

It is very important to note that a PFD is not a lifejacket.
A PFD will keep you afloat but will not necessarily keep you face up.
If a person is unconscious, a PFD will not keep your face out of the water. A lifejacket is designed to float you on your back and keep you face up.
This said, a PFD is more widely used because it is usually easier to paddle and swim in than a life jacket.
As for warmth, the PFD will help in the short term but not for a long period of time in cold water.
