best ever flashlight
I live in Whistler and walk to work at 4:30 am.This flashlight works great during those pitch black mornings. you can adjust the radius of brightness or if you want a beam to reach a longer distance. The durability is good, and batteries last a long time.

Excellence in light.
Now in my third year with my maglite I've only replaced the batteries once and I use it extensively. From dances (I supervise), camping, security work, walking , even around the home to find things in hard to see places. It just works.
I've dropped it numerous times on all kinds of surfaces from grass to cement, and it even rolled into a pool once; submerged in 12 foot deep water. I managed to pull it out with a pool rake and it just worked. The LED bulb is still sealed and can light up traffic signs over a mile away.
I've put a few nicks in the metal casing and the appearance is still nearly flawless. It looks like I had just bought it.
I imagine as time goes on the only piece that seems like it might cause me grief is the rubber covered on/off switch. Once that wears out I'll knowingly cover the switch loosely with tape so it's still functional.
Great flash light with loads of capability. Law enforcement agencies use similar lights, and for good reason. It can take day to day abuse. These lights go on sale occasionally which makes it an even better buy.

little payback/large payout
Purchased considering it a long-term investment (as far as flashlights are concerned). It worked, sort of, for one season. The light had difficulty staying on and had to screw and unscrew quite a few times to get it working. After the first season, used the batteries in something else. Next camping season, put the batteries in the light and it sometimes lit up while screwing in the cap. Now nothing. Cost to get it fixed is about US$30 (shipping + return shipping). They cannot fix this type of flashlight in any mag-lite repair shop other than the California one. No spare parts. Unfortunately, I am now soured on the mag-lite brand as anything you purchase from them, regardless of price, appears to be a throwaway (cheaper to buy new than to fix), and does not appear, in this case, to be a product with staying power.
Tried new batteries: Old batteries still fully power my other, not as bright, much cheaper flashlight.
Tried resetting the spring several times

Typical Maglite quality
Sturdy, well made, amazing value. Extremely bright, wide range from spot to flood. I wanted ONE flashlight that I knew would always work when needed..this is it.

Disapointing
i purchased this flashlight to tell scary stories at camp fires, and shine it up at my face. but the LED lighting makes my eyes hurt too much and the white light that LEDs emite tottaly crush the scary atmosphere. If your looking for a scary story flass light dont buy this one

Great Item For Camping!
This is the greatest flashlight I have ever bought. That is all I can say.

Buy it
For the money it's the best flashlite you can buy. Make sure you buy the LED model, it last about 8 hrs on the batteries, and even after 8 hrs when the batteries are low it will still be on for another 30hrs ( low light but can be used in emergency)
The only week spot is plastic lens, so you should keep it away from fire.

Excellent flashlight
Bought this flashlight a couple of weeks ago - kinda irratated that I bought before it went on sale, but it was still well worth it. The light is a good white colour (no yellow hue like other garbage flashlights) It outshines all flashlights i've ever had. The construction is very sturdy and it fits well in my hand. the focus of the light is great too, however, the light is a great with it removed; it creates a good floodlight.
Very very satisfied.

Fierce
I work in the field at night quite often. My wife bought me this for xmas last year. It is by far the most superior flashlight I have ever used.
This year, my wife bought me a "3 Million" candlepower rechargeable light. This Maglite outshines it both in brightness and distance.
The white light has greater viewing power over the yellow of other lights.
The construction is solid and sturdy. I have used it to break the side windows of automobiles - no easy task.
For it's price, this light cannot be matched.
Seriously look no further if you're in the market for a flashlight.
I've included a photo. The camera was placed on my truck's bumper. Most of the illumination is from the headlights. In the upper left portion of the photo there is a whiter light beam. This is the flashlight's beam shining towards the trees in the centre of the scene. Those trees aren't being lit by the headlights of the truck. Its this flashlight lighting them up.

multi purpose
this heavy guy is great when i walk home. i hv to go throgh trails to get home quick, or else it takes more then an hour to get there. not only is the light bright enough to chase off my fear of the dark, but with all of the nuts running around in the world now-a-days, its heavy enough to use as a protection device well. thank goodness ive never had to use it as such but i feel much beter walking home with it past midnight when work lets off
