Good quality price
These bars are well designed. The only weak point is the rubber handles. They stink a little bit and mines started to crack after a couple months of usage. I did fix the issue by using some hockey tape, it made the handles much stronger and help them to hold in place. It also address the odor issue.

These are for the big boys
I'm lifting over 100lbs per dumbbell so over 200lbs of weight total per chest workout with these dumbbells and they are amazing very good quality.

Great Bang For Your Buck
I purchased this product after previously owning the Alex® V30 Dumbbell Set(vinyl). I chose these Spinlock bars for better weight management for Cast Iron Plates.
First impression, wow - these alone have a small weight to them(2-3lb maybe?) and it feels nicely weighted. My older vinyl plastic spinlock ones were cheaper made and had weight limitations; not the Alex ones though.
I've loaded them with heaver weights and they still felt great in the hand.
I cant comment on the odor most reviewers are talking about, as its been a few years - but that speaks for the product now, as I smell nothing.
I really like the heavy rubber material they use for grip it feels nice, and the spin-locks included are great. A minor gripe is sometimes after a few sets/reps of setting the dumbbell down, the spin-locks loosen up, takes a quick 1/4'' turn to re-tighten, could be said for all or most dumbbells anyway.
Overall I really like these dumbbells, I am considering a second pair to limit the time for swapping weight increments.
I recommend them :)

Pretty good dumbbell bars
Definitely good for recreational working out, just average daily workouts. Yes, there is a grease and smell to them, and I am an extreme clean/hygiene freak and was okay with just washing them under the tap for the while. Annoying, but 10 minutes isn't THAT bad, just put on some music.
Yes, when I got there, ALL boxes were opened unfortunately. Some of the rubber was a little stripped off, no biggie, I am a big fan of aesthetics and this really wasn't a big deal.
They are of average quality, you get what you pay for and these weren't cheap, but not particularly expensive either.
As for durability, well we'll see since I've just had them for about a week. I bought these at the Canadian Tire at Eaton's Centre.
Spinlock is definitely a good choice as (thpugh highly unlikely) the old clamp bars, just start feeling unsafe after a while.
Would have been helpful if the box told you how much the bars themselves weigh, maybe I just missed it.

Good Product but a bit smelly for the first while.
Good Product but a bit smelly for the first while, had to give it a good wash to rid the moth ball/ rubber smell.

Great Dumbbells
This is a nice set of dumbbells. They are good by themselves or with weght added to them. The bells are 3lbs each and are great if your walking or on a tread mill and you want to lift some weght. The spinlock is good, but you do have to tighten them on ocassion because they will come loose at times. Overall, great purcgase!

Good quality handles
These spinlock dumbbells are superior to the old fashioned clips. The spinlocks create a safer working environment for the lifter as you don't need to worry about them slipping off. The rubber handle is comfortable to use. You need to be careful once you start using 60lbs and heavier because the rubber handles have been known to slide and shift out of place.

Solid Dumbells
If you want solid, fast-swapping, durable dumbbells at a very reasonable price, these are perfect. They are the standard 1" bar size, and work great with the vinyl or cast iron weights.
These are heavy duty construction - each dumbbell can support 100 pounds of weight. The spinlock attachments are very easy to quickly remove. Previous reviews mention an 'oily feel' to the dumbbells - there is a minute amount of protective oil that keeps the dumbbells from rusting during shipping and while sitting on store shelves. It is so little "oil" that I would not have noticed it had I not read a review on it. You can simply towel off the dumbbells if you are extremely sensitive to such things.
The box supplies an extra (total five) spinlock attachments in case if you lose one.
The bar is not hollow, and as such there is no need for plastic at all. There is only the rubber hand grips, and on each spinlock there is a rubber gasket that makes contact with the weights to minimize noise.
It takes me about 5 seconds to remove both spinlocks from one dumbbell. This is faster than some other methods of securing weights. The weights are so well secured that you could throw the dumbbells down a hill and the weights won't come off.

Don't listen to anybody else!
Okay, all i have to say is that these dumbbell bars do NOT have any oily feel to them, they are really comfortable and can really stand my abuse. Buy them, they are definitely worth it.

not worth it
I expect a solid metal dumbbell bar for the exact 10 dollars over the vinyl covered version. No, it isn't - it's hollow inside & the spinlock, unlike the picture shown, is the same plastic ones used on the vinyl version.
