Not half bad
I just bought this on sale (40% off). You should know that this device works by using magnets. One magnet is located in the middle of the X (i.e. ''base magnet'') another magnet you need to stick to the back of you GPS/phone. This kit only comes with 2 magnets for your GPS/phone. Also, the magnet for your GPS/phone doesn't really stick well to them (i.e. it tends to come off easily, especially if your GPS/phone has an ondulated case, like my Garmin model NUVI 40LM). I fixed that problem by putting a little bit of crazy glue and gluing the magnet to my GPS (but that might not be ok for everyone). Once the magnet was glued and fasten solidly to the GPS, my GPS did appear to stay well in place when connected to the ''base magnet''. I even tried going over speed bumps at a pretty high speed and the GPS didn't drop to the floor, or move, or anything. Another small issue (common to most vent holders) is that once you dock the device to the base, you cant turn the base to face the driver (like you could in the suction cup base which pivots), meaning the driver is constantly looking at the device at an angle. like i said, this not a major issue, but can be slightly annoying to some. Overall, a little disappointed i had to crazy glue the magnet to the device but it does appear to work well now, and since i got it on sale, i'd say it was an ok buy.

A Little Pricey- but thus far worth it
I purchased it a few weeks ago and once you use it you'll realize why its much better than having the suction cup apparatus. Very easy to use and set up. So far its worked well in the winter- I can't verify how it is in the summer as per the other post....but do I think its worth it? Absolutely!

Works well
I've had one of these for a couple of years, it has worked excellently for my iPhone. Holds it securely and easy on and off. Not much to see either on the vent or on the case, which I like. I've had no trouble with it falling off if it has been placed correctly for good magnet contact.
It does require sticking a small metal stud to the phone.

Not a good choice in summer days!
It seems the sticky magnetic button to hold the GPS on the mount will let go in hot summer days. My GPS fell several times already because of that, when it is cold, there is no such problem.
