Excellent Buy !!
The Brunton 15TDCL is the best designed compass short of going for a professional Brunton or Breithaupt pocket transit which will cost several times as much. It does everything you need from a basic multi-purpose orienteering tool. And the workmanship and design expertise is clearly evident.
My only complaint is the sticker they placed right in the middle of the mirror. The sticker advertises 5 free U.S. map downloads from National Geographic that you get when you buy the unit. That's great, but the adhesive they used was far too strong. In scrubbing the sticker off, I slightly scratched the mirror. So, if you buy this unit (recommended), take very special care to remove the sticker slowly and gently so you don't damage your mirror.

Find your way
Although GPS seems to be taking place of a compass these days, there is no replacement for a good backup such as this. This is a very high level compass that can be used for map reading and orienteering. Everything about the compass is well put together from the mirror, bezel, baseplate and lanyard.

This is a great compass!
It is easy and fast to use. The numbers are a larger font to make it easier to read in the mirror. Cadets Canada uses the same model (minus the magnifier and clinometer) to teach navigation and orienteering to air, army and sea cadets. This is easily the best compass for its availability and price.
