Stick with laces
I bought a pair of these for my 9 year old daughter so that she could tie her own skates for ringette. In that respect, they work awesome. While other parents are lining up to tie up their kids laces, I hear the tell-tale clicks of her tightening hers and she's done. My complaint with these skates is the plastic Boa tightening knob. My daughter took a slash to her skate and the knob snapped. Not only did this render the skate almost impossible to operate but little black pieces of plastic went everywhere.
Boa has a 100% guarantee on the Boa system so you can get replacement parts. However, in a game situation, or away on a tournament, the lack of durability of the Boa system is a big problem. I would not buy these for hockey or ringette but maybe for a recreational skater.
On a side note, it seems Boa has recognized this problem and does not put the Boa system on hockey skates any more - only NON impact sports.

RATED A+++ from a hockey mom`s point of view
They are well built and comfortable but the best of all they are easy to put on. Since I have carpal tunnel syndrome, it work just fine for me!!! Overall they are a great pair of skates to get!

Great for beginner Hockey players
Skates are very comfortable and easy to put on. Easy to lace up, but a little tricky loosening the skates because of the locking system. Once you get used to it you're on your way.
