Interesting on sale
First, on lest you really need it on the fly, buy it when is is on sale. Got it a 40% off (33$) and I think it also gets goes up to 60% reading other comments.
Got two defective ones before this one. The first one, the switch was broken. The second one, the USB power didn't work. So if it doesn't work properly, maybe you got a defective one?
Before buying this one, I've bought the 750W. Powering over the 12V cigarette is useless, since you can't really use more than 100W continue without frying the wires. Also, the 750W fan always works, even if nothing is on it. Which made this one interesting. The fan only works when needed. Since a MacBook Pro uses up to 90W at 100% CPU load with 1.5A, I still can charge my iPad and iPhone with this 300W.
I've notice that the USB power doesn't need the switch to be on to work! Weird, but interesting. You may only need to charge your cell phone without generating the 120V power with the inverter.
Also, I've noticed that when my MacBook Pro was hooked, it says it is hooked-up, but not charging. So there is a difference with Home 120V power and this inverter, but allows you to use your laptop without the battery. I've noticed the same thing with the 750W, so it is not because of the strength, but probably because of the ondulation. Maybe it will work on other laptops?
I'll know more after this summer...

My ten year old unit still works awesome
I have this same unit, however mine is coming up ten ears old. It has the same aluminium case and 300W draw, The wires have frayed at the connection and had to solder them back in place. Other than that this unit keeps on ticking and powers several electronic devices such as laptops and cell phones.
The quality of this unit appears to match my ten year old model so I highly recommend.

Good for small devices
This unit is great for small things like lights, cell phones etc. I use this unit with my small solar panel setup to run a few lights and my laptop. The only thing that i found disappointing was that the alagator clamps that come with it broke at the O ring tips in a few weeks. Besides that this is an awesome little inverter for road trips or small solar setups.

Excellent product
Got it on sale, 30$ off, wait for the sale price as this type of thing is on sale probably at least twice a year. Works exactly as described in the description, I have had no problems using it to power a laptop and Nintendo DS for the whole drive to and from Florida (25 hours each way).

Lots of juice
We use this for long trips to power our cell phones and laptops. A laptop will put quite a draw on it and so the fan will start. Other people have said this is very loud, but we didnt find this to be the case, it was barely noticeable with the radio on low. this is the min size you need if you want to charge a laptop. The 75W version is ok for cellphones, but nothing more

300 Watts of Smooth power
My converted full size van that gets used for everything from hauling building materials to camping. I built it with a dual battery system and a small inverter to handle power requirements while traveling. The system worked for years but a day before my wife and I were to leave on a special holiday the inverter failed. Not only did the inverter fail but for some time (I’m assuming) it was short supplying power to what was plug into it.
The problem was quickly solved with a new 300W inverter from the local Canadian Tire store but, the previous one had burned out the stereo speakers and a small cooling fan.
Grabbed the sound system from a computer another trip to Canadian Tire for the fan and we were good to go. We noticed the first night were were out that the interior lighting system was much brighter and the fan (same one as before) ran much faster.
This 300W Inverter is a great little unit appears to be built well and compact for the power it produces. The only complaint I have is the internal cooling fan comes on the moment there is any type of load but really that’s a very small annoyance.

Just works forever
We have had this inverter for about 7 years. We used to install satellite TV systems and needed A/C power in our truck to run a system to aquire a temporary signal. This unit has performed flawlesssly powering a television, receiver and laptop, and we have treated it rather roughly, shoved under the seat, dropped on the ground, even exposed to the odd rain storm and it just keeps working. For the price, I highly recommend this inverter

Xpower 300 watt inverter
well i got it on sale the other day and let me say iam imprssed so far with it , it runs my laptop just fine and it runs a light bulb good and next iam going to try my small CH air compressor as it only uses 2 amps on the 120 volt side and this unit and do 2.6 amps total , also to mention i used the ciggerett lighter socks, in my car it only a power socket set uo and it delivers 20 amps to the socket so i got more then enough to feed the inverter so no need for me to use the power clips , good thing to cause the battery for my car lives in my truck and thoes cables are just not long enough so all is good and iam happy with it

smartest use of birthday money
i bought this power inverter to power christmas lights on our minivan and then i tried plugging in my xbox to play in the car and it worked! so now when we go to florida or chicago or wisconsin, i play xbox on my portable dvd player! the only downside to the inverter is in the winter time when its cold, it wont start up.

Just picked up this inverter on sale for 24 bucks. really impressed, it will run 2 cfl lights 13 watts a piece and a 20" tube tv 95 watts and a clock radio no problem. I bought it for my camp but now am using it as a back up at the house to run some lights and a tv in case of a poweroutage. great bang for the buck.
