Eliminator 1000A/700W Power Box
I purchased this unit primarily to run my portable Sirius Satellite radio when I'm out camping as it is a quiet alternative to running a generator. I find it can last all weekend without needing to charge, plus I can plug in the iPhone to recharge it using the USB port. I used it to boost my vehicle with great success! A very useful and worthwhile purchase!

not worth it... recharging takes more than a day
Bought this to power my wife's sleep machine while were on holidays. It worked well the first night but we charged it all the following day and it only came up to half charge. You could say it was our fault because in the 'fine' print buried in the manual it does say it takes 36 hours to fully recharge -THIS SHOULD BE ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE BOX ON SUCH AN EXPENSIVE ITEM...
Luckily CT has a great return policy

Ups and Downs
I purchased one of these for use at my cabin. After running a laptop computer, the box stopped working and only made a "clicking" sound, as others have stated. I took this model back twice as the first two were both faulty. Canadian Tire exchanged them without a problem.
As for performance, I find this device to be weaker than the manufacturer's states. But works in emergencies and starting cars and light duty vehicles.

Great use for my Maserati
My Maserati was weak on power and needed anything above 850CCA to power up.. This was it! Saved the day and the safest way NOT to fry the computer chip on board..

Initially charged as instructed in manual. Unplugged it and it sat for 6-8 weeks. Plugged it in to top up charge (instructions are to charge every 3 months if not used) and device "clicks" when charger plugged in. Haven't used it once and will have to return. Purchased it for emergencies at the cottage, but it has to be reliable. Especially for $350!!!

This thing ROCKS
We used it in our van, during a long trip, this summer, to run a Sony PS3. It was also plugged into the cigarette lighter.
The PS3 draws lots of power. It gets quite hot. It would run for 4 hrs before it required recharging, which when plugged into the cigarette lighter was no more then six hours.
The battery terminals on the side are also a nice touch. Should I require more power then the internal battery has, I can parallel this unit with an external battery to run the 800W inverter.
I bought it on sale for less then half price, so that might affect my opinion.

Good for Multiuse
I use mine for multiple uses. From Camping to Vehicle's. I made a long distance trip with my family and it was a lot easier then having game chargers extending to the front of the vehicle. Lasted the whole trip.

Good For Emergencies & General Use
The construction is fairly rugged (although the ac outlet covers are a bit flimsy). It's like hardened rubber/plastic. It's really quiet too. If you bring it for camping, get the "salton multi cooker." It should work with this unit (boils water and cooks stew) as it is rated at 600W which is what this unit is capable of continuous output. Other kettles require 1000 w minimum to boil water.
I have 2 - one at home if the lights go out and another in the car. Got it on sale for $200 each, sale happens often.
When you buy these things, you have to look at the amp hour capacity, and 33 at AH it's pretty good. Remember that you should only drain it to 50% (17.5 AH) to maximize the 12v agm battery inside, but I think it auto shut offs at that point for this very purpose. Calculate your amp hour needs.
As I student I run around campus a lot and sometimes need someplace safe and convenient to charge my netbook. I just leave it plugged in and charging in my car in between classes. When i come back its fully charged, good stuff. I also use it with a 35W cooler and it runs it for about 4-5 hours on a full charge.
Would have preferred for the 1200W powerbox with the wheels, but its too big anyways and has been discontinued by CT.

I would buy it, but for light duty items
It is a great product.
Very heavy duty
clamps are detachable
shows wattage and percent battery left
Very heavy (25-30lbs.)
take long to fully charge (up to 48hrs.)
27" LCD TV & laptop uses 100Watts, but lasts only 2 hrs.
battery does not last too long
