Economical power source

"I just bought this on sale. I hope it will charge my net-book and my cell phone. The chart on the back indicates that it is more than adequate for these two applications. I'll try it, if it fails its back to Canadian tire. I have a few 12 volt outlets in my vehicle, so hopefully I can use them. I have a small point and shoot Kodak camera as well and I hope I can charge that device once and a while. I also have a I-pod and a GPS but the vehicle should take care of those gadgets."

USB port overheats, doesn't charge most devices

"If you're looking for a 100W power inverter, this one seems to be ok, though much more expensive than the 75W (especially when on sale).

The added feature of USB was initially why I bought it, though it doesn't charge most devices (such as my Mio Digiwalker GPS, the Sony Ericsson phone, apple devices, etc). It does charge my Nexus One, but only at the USB (computer) rate of 500 mA, not the AC-powered 1A charge.

Even while charging at 500 mA, though, the top left side still becomes extremely hot to the touch, which I noticed after the plastic grill had melted and deformed slightly.

As such, I really don't recommend this for its USB capability. You're much better off getting a dedicated USB charger and a cigarette lighter splitter if you need 120V as well as the USB charging."

Too bad for the USB

"I bought this for both the AC outlet and the USB. Sadly, the USB doesn't charge my iPhone. You can find a less expensive inverter which doesn't have the "non working usb"."

Look for the packaging to say USB2.0 to ensure that it will charge the iPod Touch.

Answer:

Unscrew the end of the 12-volt plug. There should be a fuse in there.

can i replace the fuse in this unit?

Question:

I hooked it up backwards to a 12v battery and blew the fuse. Does not seem to come off......any help? Thanks

Answer:

Unscrew the end of the 12-volt plug. There should be a fuse in there.

theres a fuse puller, should be in or around ur fuse box, which is usually located under the hood, but in some cases beside the steering wheel under the side panel where the door covers when closed, hope this is of any help, if not google it.
