Does the job as intended
High quality product. I use it regularly when I go up island and it is great idea to have one in the trunk.
No problems with the construction. No smell in the trunk - just close it properly and wipe clean any drops that happened to be there after the use. As simple as that.

good deal!
Got 2 cans, so far so good, gonna get one more. People complain about venting, for me it was fine. I'm actually happy they don't have the venting nozzle at the back anymore, people would forget to close it and then the trunk would stink for like a week. The main nozzle closes just fine, had no evaporation problems.
Only thing i would add, a transparent line on the can so that i can see the amount of gas inside.

Good gas can for the price
This gas tank is just fine if you read instruction. Some people complain about the missing breath hole but in my case I did not find any problems. I use it for my car fuelling and works great!

So far so good.
Why does the product display picture show the smaller diameter ventilation tube on the pouring spout upside down?
Instruction sticker on the can clearly demonstrates that the ventilation tube needs to be facing UP, towards the user's hand when holding and pouring the can.
When ventilation tube is below the spout, the gas CHUGS when pouring.
When ventilation tube is above the spout, the gas pours freely.
I am replacing my older plastic gas cans with these Scepter models; they have fewer parts (no ventilation hole and cap or cheap corrugated spout) to break down than 'Wedco' models.
Only con I find is that the container has no clear window. It is so opaque that you can't see the level of gas inside the can, even when shining a flashlight through the side of the can.

Quality improvement needed for the nozzle
I bought one and after a couple of times of use the rubber "O" ring sealing gasget is worn out into 2 pieces.
Reason: the yellow plastic round port on the nozzle where the O-ring covers is very rough with sharp manufatory ripples, so it keeps cutting the O-ring from inside.
I found that in the store there are spare nozzles with O-ring for sale and guess what, a lot of O-rings in the bags are missing!!! Because the rubber O-rings are eaten up so a lot of customers just came in the store to get a new O-ring!
Strongly suggest the manufactor improves this.

Bad venting
The self venting pour spout I think is a poor invention. It takes I would say 3 times longer to drain the Gerry can than the way they used to be vented (screw off cap top back)
It takes at least 5 minutes to poor out the fuel because of the slow venting.

Step Backwards
I really hate this gas can. It may be great for filling lawn mowers or in emergency situations, but for those of us that use them to regularly fill our vehicles this gas can design is truely horrible. It takes twice as long (yes I timed it) to empty the gas out vs the old style of gas can with a seperate vent. Who wants to hold a gas can up at chest level twice as long as they have to?
Bring back the seperate vent please!

Horrible Vent Issue!
I purchased 2 of these gas cans and I must say that I'm very disappointed to say the least. The 'self venting' option does not work at all.The construction itself is top notch but if the pouring capability is poor then what's the point? I ended up drilling a 1/4 inch hole in both of the gas cans where the old style gas cans had the small vent hole and that solved the problem 100%.I wish that they would have just stuck with the old style gas cans with the vent hole at the opposite end of the pouring side.

Good Quality
I purchased 2 of these units last year to fill up the Seadoo at the lake. Made of good durable plastic and the base is wide enough that it won't tip over will in motion. The only down side is that it take's forever fill up the Seadoo becuase of no vent to allow air passage. I drilled a 3/8 hole in the handle and plugged it with a sheet metal bolt which has a rubber washer on it. Now it works like a charm. You only need to tighten the bolt finger tight and you'll have no leaks.

Great Deal
After shopping all over the web I discovered that CT had the very best deal on these. I bought 8 of them for our company and we are very satisfied with the products quality, and the knowledge that we got the best product for the price we paid.
