Seems to have a Mind of it's own
I've had this charger for about a year and tried to use it twice. In both instances it did not work proper as follows on a dead battery.
-On Auto it starts charging 3 -5 amps for a few minutes then it indicates the batt. is fully charged. "Not" Had to use my booster cables.
-On Manual at 15A it indicates charging at 9-12A then lowers the charge rate to about 2A. After about 2 hours tried the start the car, but no luck, battery still dead.
So in other words don't waste your money; this thing seems to have a mind of it's own and doesn't work.

WORKED GREAT FOR ME!!!
After leaving my van (Dodge Caravan) in the outside parking lot of the airport in the freezing cold (-28) for 4 nights, the battery was TOTALLY DRAINED. Luckily I was able to jump start it but was told that I need to recharge the battery. After shopping around online for a charger I found this one and decided to give it a try. It worked LIKE A CHARM!! Even though I recharged the battery in -23°C weather, with the hood opened....it still worked great. The battery was recharged and was able to use my van normally.
A couple of things though: DO pay attention to the instructions. If they aren't followed it won't work and you'll get frustrated. And lastly, put away the charger in a warm area i.e. inside your house. As the cables might get stiff with the cold and possibly get damaged. So overall, I liked the product, it worked well for me and I highly recommend getting one.

Good Charger BUT
I got one about 3 years ago it works fine if you bother to read the book that comes with it.The only real problem has been the wires going to the battery.I returned my first one after about a year because they broke at the back of the charger and my second one did the same this fall so I was plesed to see they had changed it when I exchanged it but was amazed to see they had not fixed this problem apperantly nobody at CT reads the reviews. Most people have complained about the wires but they are the same on the new model. The only thing that has changed is the colour and the instructions are better If they had fixed the wires it woulbe a great charger.

Almost useless as a charger
Starting with disconnected battery @ 13vdc and 90% capacity, 24 hour later it is 12.7vdc and less than 50% capacity, 24 hours after that, the charger says replace the battery. Charger will not work if battery terminal voltage is too low. Additional charger is required to bring up voltage to permit activation of reconditioning function. Reconditioning seems to work, if terminal voltage is maintained, which this machine does not do.

PERFECT CHARGER FOR THE SHOP!!!
I have had this charger for almost 2 years without a single hiccup. As mentioned before if you see 888 its because you didn't hook it up properly or the battery is COMPLETELY drained. I have used this for my RV, Trucks, Boat, ATV, Tractor and Rhinos. Buy it for reg price or wait til sale you won't be disappointed.

**Read the Instructions**
I was initially quite hesitant to purchase this charger due to the low ratings, but it was on sale so I thought I would give it a try.
Most of the 1 star reviews talk about how the charger is not working and displays "888". It's probably not due to a bad battery or charger.
The manual SPECIFICALLY STATES that the CHARGER MUST BE CONNECTED TO THE BATTERY *****BEFORE**** PLUGGING THE CHARGER INTO AC POWER, otherwise you will get the "888" error code. So, if you plugged the charger into AC power first and then connected to the battery, you will probably get an error code
If the instructions are followed, and if you troubleshoot problems using the manual, this charger works very well. I use it to charge a deep-cycle battery bank and I've had no issues

motomaster battery charger
The first time I used this charger it worked well. Then I needed it when the weather was below zero. It would not work, no codes the screen was blank. I brought it into the house and warmed it up and it started to work again. Tried to use it a third time, this time inside were it is warm nothing. Looking for suggestions on what to use this charger for. Not good for charging.

'versatile' and quick charger :)
In contrast to what the user manual states, I use this charger as a power supply as well -- works as long as u have a battery connected as well. Use it to drive car amps in the house. Using just a battery (with good charge) works... for a while -- when this charger is hooked up too -- distortion goes way down and volume goes way up!! Ran this for 1 1/2 hours continuously (at moderately high volumes on amp) with dubstep and rap/hip-hop and it never even blew warm air.
Only thing I didn't like was the auto shut-off --- as I was constantly drawing so much power -- if it detects the battery is still less than x volts after a certain amount of time ;( So I have to unplug it and plug it back in (a bit of a pain). But other than this it puts out the power and never complains. Also very light-weight (swear it weighs only as much as the casing itself). Still haven't tried the engine start feature (will do when I feel like blowing a sub (with fuses bridged and extinguisher handy of course)!! Turn down the volume and the charger rapidly charges the battery. And to all the people who return their eliminators due to flashing "888", reading the manual thoroughly would help.
I do not 'recommend' using this as a power supply because the manual says not to.
