"It can't take the stress of race track use? But its fine for the daily driver (motorcycle). Well, yeah I guess but I dunno if that gives me much consideration. Even the daily driver hits the rev limiter a few times during the season so maybe I will stick with the Mobil1 Synthetic for bike specific, only another $20. Probably $ out the window but I would also prefer to run a quality after market oil filter as well rather then the CT ones... peace of mind maybe!"

Cheap universal synthetic

"Great synthetic oil. We run it in our IDI-TD Jetta, two street bikes and even ran it in gasoline engine cars without any fuel economy penalties (usually expected because it doesn't have any friction modifiers). There have been reports of it not being able to take the stress of track/race bike application, but it's perfectly good for street use. If the CJ-4 rated version is already at CT, it will be ok even for newer bikes that require JASO-MA rating."

Can this be used in a gasoline engine?

Question:

I have a 2003 Vw New Beetle with the 2.0L 8v engine, and I'm looking for a synthetic oil for my car and several people have recommended this oil to me but it is mainly for iesel engines, can this be used in my car?

Answer:

Oils meant for diesel engines most of the times exceed gas oil specs, mostly because they need to be able to withstand the abuse of the diesel engine's higher compression ratio.

Also the VW 2.0L gas engine is not very picky when it comes to oils. I'm no expert but I'm pretty sure you're safe using this in your car.

Answer:

Technically, you can in fact use it in a gasoline motor. The purpose of friction modifiers is to improve fuel mileage, so you might notice a very slight increase in fuel consumption when compared with another synthetic oil, but not when compared with a mineral oil. As far as damaging your catalytic converter, this is only a very theoretical problem that may occur if your engine burns noticeable amounts of oil, otherwise there is no issue.

I have read otherwise. I have done alot of reading about this oil. There are people using this is gasoline engines and also in motorcycles. It does meeting the specs for use in motorcycles and people are haveing great experiences with it.

Answer:

Unless your vehicle is a diesel, you should not be using this oil. Gas motors require friction modifiers which diesel oil does not have. If you want a good synthetic gas engine oil, try Penzoil Platinum, Mobil 1 or Castrol Syntec.

Answer:

This oil should not be used in any cars unless it is has a diesel engine.
It does not have any friction modifiers (Energy Conserving) in this oil.
It may also damage you catalytic converter.
Use the Castrol Syntec if you want a good Syn oil.

Answer:

I don't see why not, as long as it's viscosity is within the manufacturer recommended range. Just check your car's manual, and if 5W-40 can be used go for it. I'm using it in my oil cooled inline four, 4 stroke motorcycle, but not in my car because it requires different grade oil.

Yep. It's probably somewhere between acceptable/warranty approved (it's certified for gas engines, probably SJ but I don't have any in front of me), and one of the best possible choices, and it's a great deal, even at full price.
