Now I have peace of mind!!!
I saw a news report in which people died in a fire because they were too scared to jump out of their window, something I cannot blame them for, being a chicken myself. Merely jumping off a table is a challenge for me.
Advice: TRY it ASAP. Don't wait for a real situation. Try it as many times to make yourself comfortable with it. When a real situation happens, it will be easy. Also, make sure you have proper footwear on the second floor. Going outside bare feet in the snow at -40 is not funny. Going to the first floor to grab your shoes defies the purpose of this escape ladder.

Great purchase
This emergency ladder gives me peace of mind, living in a 2 storey home. We have set up a meeting point outside, in case of emergencies as well. Very durable. Easy to use. We tested it out and it was simple.

Good investment.
Bought for our grandchildren, you can never be to safe. Easy to install and use. Easily stores on shelf. Should use to learn proper operation to ascent from building.

Simple safety
I bought one for each bedroom on my 2nd floor. We tried it out and it's simple to use. Compact, it stores on a closet shelf, and takes seconds to hook onto the window sill. I recommend one of these for everyone with a multi-storey home and to try it out a couple times to get used to climbing down the treads.

ECELLENT safety item
This item is a must have for any 2 storey home. especially if you have children on the second floor. we have three of these and they are easy to install and easy to use.
