Awesome Clothes Dryer

"I purchased this rotary dryer for my Wife as she wanted to dry our clothes outside during the summer months.

I bought this item when it was on sale for about $80 along with the ground spike ($25). There was also a $5 off coupon issued in Ontario for energy saving that I was able to use on this purchase as well.

The ground spike was easy to install. A flat spade to cut an "X" into the ground, a scrap piece of 2x4 and a sledge hammer and the spike was in the ground. The spike comes with a nice plug that you can put in the spike when you cut the grass.

The rack is lightweight and rotates in the spike which is nice. The lines in the rack are individual so if one breaks, it is only the one line that needs to be replaced and they are very easy to remove and install.

If you are looking for a practical outdoor drying rack, I STRONGLY recommend getting this one. My electric dryer will be taking a vacation this summer.....and our bank account with the savings!"

Product did not perform as expected

"My husband bought this for me in the summer, I was very dissappointed with it. He never got it to stand straight, no matter how much he tried and it has collapsed a couple of times on me, necessitating my needing to at least rinse the clothes again.
I find it works well with small garments but not with big ones.
I would not recommend this product to anybody."

Do not buy this product

"This product was the right price but did not provide the quality. 2 times now it has collapsed on me leaving me to dry the clothes in the dryer (this time the night before vacation!). It is not made well enought o support the clothes it has space for and is not suitable for a family-socks and underwear yes, anything else no. Upsetting because the resources used to make this product are totally wasted and isn't the point to save resources? I am moving to a clothesline. Unsightly but dependable."

No more struggles

"I wish I had purchased this years ago...what a delightful way to hang clothes! Tons of line space, turns easily, no problems getting it up or down.
And I have this jaunty red laundry bag that I cover it with when closed, held on with bungee cords....so it looks pretty when closed!"

Answer:

You can use the rack with or without the spike. I installed mine with the spike and I would recommend this route if you are planning on letting it spin and for storing it the winter. The spike was very easy to install and the drying rack is easy to put in and remove from the spike. Not sure if your second part of the question refers to removing the ground spike, but it can just be kept in the ground and the plastic plug can be placed in it to prevent debris or snow from filling the spike. Hope this helps.

Answer:

Spike not necessary but recommended. Alternative is to lay concrete in ground. Spike allows the dryer to be easiler removed from garden for the cold winter months.

Answer:

The spike is needed. The company does make one that costs about $25. It is hammered into the grass/soil. It is designed in such a way that you don't need to concrete it in. I also bought that at Canadian Tire.
The dryer itself can easily lift out of the spike (tube in the ground), to be stored when not in use or for the winter.
I can fit over 3 loads of laundry on this dryer. Highly recommended!!

Yes you do. Its the Brabantia 311444 45mm Ground Spike for Rotary Dryer. CT doesn't have them online but I don't know about the store either I just saw it on the package
