Answer:Â
Here are the steps as outlined in the application guide:
Application Guide
Application
Surface must be completely dry. Cover surface with jointing sand. Using a brush, sweep the jointing sand into the joints to fill them completely; sweep surface clean of sand to avoid staining during wetting.
NOTE: Prior to wetting, ensure all sand is swept clean from the pavers or stone in to the joints to ensure Magic Sand does not adhere to the pavers or stones.
Wetting
Wetting must be performed gradually in multiply sprayings. (Approx. 2-3 sprayings). Each time, especially during the first spraying, be sure not to flood pavement or generate run-off, as this could wash out the sand. Ideally, use a high-pressure water jet (500-1500psi), this will allow you to produce a fine mist, which will facilitate wetting of Magic Sand. Take care not to direct the jet on to the surface. Instead, direct it up into the air to produce a mist that will fall lightly on the pavement without displacing sand. Garden hose with a fine spray nozzle can also be used.
First Wetting
Dampen surface very lightly with a fine spray, the first spraying will stabilize the sand on the surface and make it more absorbent for subsequent wetting.
Wait 5 to 10 minutes.
Subsequent Wettings: Lightly spray surface at 5 to 10 minute intervals, so as to gradually soak the joints. Let dry for at least 24 hours before light traffic and 48 hours before heavy traffic.
Limitations
Use product in dry weather and when there is no rain forecasted for 24 to 48 hours. Temperature must be above 15C(60F). If product is applied under damp or cool weather, it will not harden and it’s binder will be washed away by the rain. Do not apply to wet or damp surfaces as the activation of the binder can make the sand stick to the surface. Do not mix sand with cement. Avoid excessive wetting or flooding of paved areas.
Coverage
30KG covers 65 to 97sq.ft (6-9 meters squared) with narrow joints or 22-43sq.ft (2-4 meters squared) with wide joints. Required quantity will depend on shape and size of the pavers or slabs and on the width and depth of the joints.
CAUTION: AVOID CONTACT WITH EYES. IF SPLASHED IN EYES OR ON SKIN FLUSH THOROUGHLY WITH WATER
