Very Comfortable and Versatile

"I bought several packages of these to put in my on-deck sunroom. I wanted something that would not be damaged by heat, humidity or water. These are great. The ones I bought were the set of colours that I'm not sure are available any more, in adult-type colours of royal blue, medium green, fuchsia and purple. The sets I see now are the kids (primary colours) and the garage (all gray). All of the colours are gray on the underside, so you can always reverse them for a different look or use. I hadn't thought about the "sponginess" much, but after I put them down on the floor I found that they are really comfortable to walk on or stand on. They make you much less tired, which is why they are great in a garage or basement tool room. Of course, being "spongy" they do tend to be marked by furniture legs, so I always replace my furniture in the exact same spots so as to make only one set of "dents". They are very easily cut to fit your room and around doors and door frames as well, just needs scissors. The border trim pieces need a bit of thought to put the right ones in the right places to get a perfect fit, but it is not rocket science. My cats love them and do sometimes stretch on them and dig their claws in, this has made little "picks" in the rubber, but that's okay, the point is to be comfortable and have fun. The only thing I wish is that they were a bit cheaper. Even on sale, they are around $3.00 each 24 x 24 panel, which gets up there when you want to do a bit room."

Must have for kids

"Protects our hardwood floor from our little one who likes to drop heavy objects. Provides cushioning to make it comfortable to play on the floor and is insurance against falls.

I've bought multiple packages, so watch for this on sale!"

"theses are great to help proctect floors and carpets in playrooms or high traffic areas where the kids are. They are fun and colorful and add extra padding for the little ones.
The only thing is that they mark easily."

Great for floors

"This is a great product. Obviously the intention is for kids and protection. I've applied this to my workshop floor in the basement and have been pleasantly surprised by the results. I find "workshop" rubber flooring to be expensive and over priced. I gave this a try and it's just as good. Much more comfortable than concrete, cleans easily and is cheap in the event you need to replace it."

"I purchased 5 packages to line a room for the kids play area. Very easy to pull apart and put back together. Each has edge strips so you don't have to have jagged edges but it takes a while to line up the corners with the right colours and the right edge strips (they are not all the same).

They don't go on sale often but when they do, there is not much stock on hand. I've seen these elsewhere at much higher prices, granted they are not the thickest mats, but they are not the thinnest either.

They have a textured surface so there is good grip to them."

added great colour to basement

"we purchased these mats and used them for 3 differnet things
one we used them in the basement it added warm and colour in the playroom something the kids could sit and play on, cheaper than carpet and much easier all around
2nd we used these to put our exercise equipment on, great protection for the floor and stability for the equipment
last we put them in our boat, the are great in the boat but they did not last as long as we liked but still we they were great overall
would recomend the purchase well spent money"

Is there formamide/methanimide in these tiles?

Question:

My granddaughter plays on these tiles. Also is there any of this substance in the similar Scholastic alphabet tiles (also sold at Canadian Tire), as there is in those in Belgium which have just been labelled as dangerous for children?

Answer:

Looks like these mats are made of EVA foam which are having an issues and banned from some European countries.
Not recommened.

How safe is this material?

Question:

Does anyone know what these tiles are made of? I have them in my 8mth old daughter's play area and I'm wondering what this stuff is...it smells kinda strong even after airing out.

Answer:

They're made from EVA which stands for Ethylene Vinyl Acetate. This dense, closed cell foam is not only environmentally safe but it’s somehow weather and chemical resistant and has a low water absorption level.

The only real danger (From my viewpoint) so far lies when the product is sanded or heated (Which are NOT supposed to happen under normal use). Dust from EVA Foam or fumes (When heated) can release irritating gases such as hydrogen bormide and/or other toxic vapors.

BUT under normal use, EVA Foam should be safe to use.

Answer:

Each tile is 24 inches x 24 inches and they can be cut to fit smaller areas.

Answer:

Each mat is 24 in by 24 in or 2 ft by 2 ft. Each package contains 4 mats so the total square feet per package is 16 square feet

One tile is 2x2= 4 sq Ft; there are 4 tiles in one pack therefore you can cover 16 sq Ft

They are 2 foot wide each on each of the four sides, I have 3 packs that cover 8 foot by 6 foot (or any combination of 2 ft you want)

Answer:

I don't see why they can't be used outdoors, they are waterproof and dirt proof. I wouldn't leave them outside in the snow and ice though. Each tile has a pattern on them, kind of like a non-slip pattern, so I don't imagine they are slippery when wet. Actually, they'd probably be perfect outdoors, especially on the patio to replace a patio carpet.

Answer:

There is a one year warranty on the kids tile against manufactures defect only and they can go outside but they are not protected against the elements. Seeing as it is just foam, you might only get one season’s use if maintained outdoor. The color will fade in the sun most definitely.
