BEWARE OF GENIE DOOR OPENERS
I bought one of these useless pieces of garbage in March 2012. Worst purchase I ever made. I knew I was in troube when I was shopping around for a garage door opener installer to come over and install the genie for me. The first question most of the technicians asked me over the phone was "is it a Genie"?? I answered yes.....they laughed....and were no longer interested in the job. Apparently, when the Genie goes on sale the installers brace for many service calls. Mine worked for two weeks. No idea what is wrong with and I will not invest any time or money in this thing. I also threw out the receipt. Don't make the mistake of throwing away your receipt folks....you're gonna need it. Anyways, I really enjoy my new Craftsman door opener from Sears. Sure wish I would have went there first.

All good so far!
This has to be, by far, the quietest door opener I have ever used. Quieter than some belt driven models I have seen/heard. I can no longer even tell when the door is opening or closing from inside the house. When inside the garage, all you can hear is the door moving in the track and a slight humming from the unit.
Installation was quite easy, but don't try to reuse any pre-existing parts if replacing an older opener, because the unit will not work. Door limits, remote set up and keyless entry pad set up were a breeze.
I am not sure about durability or life span with the unit because it was only installed yesterday. Hopefully the issues that others have experienced do not start rearing their ugly head on this unit.
So far I am very impressed.

worst garage door opener ever
I purchased a Genie chainlift opener & installed myself. In the last two years, I've had to replace the motherboard 3 separate times, along with other parts such the main drive gear, and sensors.
I've spent countless hours in my garage trying to fix this horrifically designed / flawed piece of garbage, and dealing with the condescending warranty staff at Genie.
Worst purchase of any product I've ever made. Avoid at all costs.

Not really happy???
Bought this unit almost a year ago and had trouble with the wall button the day I installed it, Genie was great and sent out a replacement and everything worked perfectly for almost 9 months. I went on vacation and set the lock on the wall button and when I returned I switched it back on and it would no longer close every time (only when it felt like it). When I contacted Genie they walked me through everything that I have already tried so they could verify that there was an issue. Genie sent me a new mainboard and an additional sensor (if needed), I had to pay for shipping. I installed the mainboard and followed the instructions but it would not let me set the limits. Another call to Genie and it is finally working again (for now). I have a few more years left on the warranty so I have my fingers crossed.

Genie Garage Door Opener
The Genie Garage Door opener I purchase was good for the first couple of years. After year three I had to replace a plastic gear that snapped in half. After year five the inner plastic parts of the opener began to break away rendering the opener inoperable. I think it might have something to do with the cold winters where I live and the plastic gets too brittle.
I'll try to look for something that is made of less plastic next time.

Great for single car garage door
The Genie Chain Drive Plus is a great garage door opener for a single garage door. We've been using ours for almost 2 years now without any major issues. Over the first winter it needed a little adjustments due to the metal shrinking a bit, but all that took was a few turns of the knobs.
