A resonable product on not-so-dirty carpet

"I just purchased this machine last week and tried it on my carpet. Well, it worked pretty good on not-so-dirty- carpet. However, on the heavily soiled areas, I must pre-treat these areas beforehand.

Otherwise, the dirty spots will not go away even after the machine applied on them.

I would say, this product is quite ok on minor to medium dirty area, but for heavily soiled area, this one will not work too outstanding."

"I purchased this figuring it is better than renting and hauling a big machine back and forth. Well, it is the best purchase I've ever made. Gets down deep in the carpet. I vacuumed before using like you should. It still picked up gravel that was deep down in the carpet. You know its clean when the dirty tank is clean :) No stains, No marks of any kind and my house smelled very fresh and clean when I was done!!!! Will be sure to recommend to everyone!"

Never rent or use hands again!

"I love this little machine! We have 3 cats, a dog and a baby. With all this combined there are bound to be accidents and with our brand new carpet I tried to wash things by hand or rental and could never quite get the stains out. My magic weapon is to pretreat with Oxyclean, and then use this Bissell with whatever brand carpet cleaner in the system and the stains just come right out! We don't have carpeting on our stairs but for those that do you might want to invest in a Bissell with the hand held attachments, otherwise this is the perfect item!

It was on sale for $99 plus we used some Cad tire money and it cost less than the spot cleaners Bissell offered. Paid for itself within 2 uses!!"

Does the job

"I have had this quite a few years. Can only compare it to the one I had before that had a long tube from the hot water tap!
This one is reasonable easy to use and I like to watch the dirty water as it goes into the empty tank - makes me feel it's doing its job!
Couple of design problems: when you fill up the water chamber it doesn't have a flat bottom so I prop it up and sometimes it's fallen over. I put the water in first, then the solution so it doesn't foam too much.
Like others, I don't understand how this and other similar machines can say they are STEAM - no steam is involved - just water!!! Very wrong for them to use this word (steam).
Cleaning it after is OK until you get to the un-removable part that is usually full of hair. Either dog or human.
We've used everything including chopsticks to try and reach small clumps of hair. Now, after I have cleaned the solution holder and taken off the floor nozel: I sit the machine in the bathtub and use the hand-held shower to shoot water up into the chamber - its' the only way I can clean it without having my husband dismantle it.
If there is another similar machine that is easier to clean I will buy it - in the meantime, will keep using this one.
I really feel the cleaning of the machine is a pain and deters me from using it more often."

Good machine

"As others have said, it doesn't actually steam. I was a little disappointed at that. But it does a pretty good job (my first carpet cleaner, I have nothing to compare it to.) You vacuum and vacuum a carpet until it looks pristine, then run the Quicksteamer over it - you will be horrified at the amount of grey dirty water and cat hair you suck up! So far, it's done a pretty good job on pet stains too, although I haven't tried the pet formula yet. Cons: it's a little awkward in tight spaces, especially stairs, and for heavily soiled areas you go through a tank of water very quickly. The other con is that it's a little tricky to clean, especially if there's cat hair in there. If you don't soak a place too much though, it should be dry within an hour. I used this yesterday only on the 4 trouble spots where one of my cats pees, and the house smells so much better now. Overall, I highly recommend this product, especially when it's on sale."

Be warned!

"I bought this and was very disappointed that to find that although it's called a "steamer" it is in no way a steamer. I wanted it for use on my kitchen floor. It is basically a very awkward mop which requires expensive cleaning solution. Definitely not worth the buy."

"The best money I have ever spent. In the time it would have taken to set up my old style Bissell cleaner I had the job done. Easy to set up, easy to use and easy to empty. Was able to get it on sale as well, so I am very, very happy and would highly reccommend this purchase."

Does the Job

"With the weather turning chilly, I recently turned on my gas fireplace in the living room. I grabbed a book and laid down on the carpet in front of the fire. I have a cleaning lady that comes twice a month, and I clean the other two weeks.
I could not believe how bad my carpet smelled! I thought it was clean, but I have three dogs and they too like to lie in front of the fire. I used this wonderful little machine to clean the entire broadloom in the living room and it did an amazing job. Not only is the carpet cleaner, but it sure smells fresher too. I use the little green bissel machine on my stairs, so I wasnt too bummed out that this didnt come with the attachments to do stairs. Well worth the hundred bucks. Cleaned my ceramic floors nicely too."

The "steamer" appears not to be a steamer - what about vinyl tile floors?

Question:

Reading the reviews and Q & As here it seems there is not steam per se. Can anyone confirm that it spits out water rather than steam, and presumably too much for a stick-on vinyl floor or laminate flooring? Or can it be used on those types?

Answer:

You're right - it's not creating steam. It's using the water in the tank. I can't comment on stick-on flooring - no experience there - but I've used it many, many times on my textured vinyl kitchen floor and it's worked out great. Use hot - not warm - water with the hard-floor cleaner and it will work very well.

In the review I wrote, I mentioned scrubbing the floor with a white paper napkin and it coming up clean. The piece of the floor that I chose was right in front of the house entryway (into the kitchen). I was shocked at how well it was cleaned.

The machine head is built so the jets come before the brush, suction and squeegee as you pull, so water will only be there for as long as you leave it (how slowly you pull). The suction is strong. A small amount of water might escape that process, but not much. An amount that could certainly be handled with a paper towel.

No it doesnt. You should buy the Bissel Little Green Carpet CLeaner. Lightweight, easy to handle and does a great job on stairs

The BISSELL QuickSteamer Multi-Surface Lightweight Deep Cleaner is great for carpets and bare floors.
It does not include a hose for attachments for above floor cleaning such as stairs and upholstery. BISSELL does have a full line of upright deep cleaners at Canadian Tire that do include the hose and accessories plus the BISSELL Little Green portable deep cleaner which would be handy to have for the small cleaning jobs of stairs and upholstery .

you can buy spot pre-treaters which will help. I did my carpets with old stains a few times and they look almost new :)

Answer:

There are three or four different cleaning solutions you can buy to use with this machine. The one that I use that truly deodarizes the carpet is the red bottle for pet stains and pet odours. It deodarizes the carpet brilliantly.
