Great Unless Dropped

"PROS:
The 3-5 flavours of 2X Deep Cleaners are virtually the same except for the Pet attachment or Stairs attachment. Once you get the hang of applying the 'juice' and using a slow consistent motion, this product works great. For the stains that don't come out over a couple of passes, I go back with the hand tool and 'erase' it. Consider diluting the cleaner further for additional cost savings.

CONS:
The tank assembly has 2 design defects (re: model 9300-B): 1. It is held in place by gravity only, so it can fall, smash, and take $50 more from your wallet; 2. There are two plastic side shields that are screwed on to protruding stubs on both sides of the tank assembly. If the unit is dropped, pressure on these shields can tear the plastic stubs right off and leave holes in the water reservoir ... begging $50 more from your wallet!

ADVICE:
To Bissell: replace the side shields with clamps.
To Consumer: unscrew the 'pretty' side shields."

The Best Machine Ever!!

"I got this machine as a christmas gift,,, Going back 15 yrs I owned the lower version of this machine and used it for 15 yrs,, never had a problem using it and it still works. I have pets, three cats and two dogs and they are big dogs,, I needed to up grade my machine because it is old and it was time for a new one......... SO i recieved this one and I love it, it cleans very well, its easy to clean and I really like the two tank system.. The machine isnt heavy at all and its easy to push and pull and no access water comes out of the bottem.... I clean my carpets once a month and they come out so clean and smell nice for days and days... I would tell people to buy it cause the machine really works......"

Poor Quality - won't last

"It worked for the first 6-8 months, although leaks were always a bit of a nuisance. The issue, however, has to do with the poor quality of these vacs. Just past one year (maybe 8-10 uses), the shaft connecting the motor to the rotating brush snapped! I was shocked to see that the shaft was barely 3 mm in diameter. Given the stress that the cleaner brush goes thru, you'd think that they would design something a little thicker/stronger
Now I need to replace the entire spinning assembly...assuming I can even find the part.
$300 wasted.

Avoid if you can."

"I recommend avoiding Bissell products because they won't supply replacement parts for their products. I phoned bissell Canada and they don't have the part and cannot get the part. Then they told me a bissell service centre stocks the part. I phoned the service centre, they did not stock the part, and have never stocked the part. They told me they might be able to get the part, but they only get one shipment a month, so it will be 1 to 2 months before the part comes, if it is available."

Happy with purchase

"We have an older model of this that was purchased about 7 years ago. It has cleaned many carpets, furniture and vehicles. Recently, our basement flooded when the floats of both our main and back up sump pumps became stuck. We used it and a shop vac to suck up all the water off the concrete - it was a lifesaver!
We do have a few small complaints: it uses way too much soap. We mix detergent and water half and half and use the lowest soap setting.
The seal under the resevoir doesn't always seat properly but that's fixed with a good wipe and a bit of fiddling.
There are sealed sections that can't be properly cleaned and no matter how much you rinse, the little crevices stay gunky. We've never noticed any mould or smell but it looks gross.
The upholstery attachment really needs a powered brush. Again, we have an older version of the machine listed so perhaps they changed that. Even without a brush, it still pulls out lots of dirt.
While it will never compare to a professional machine, it still does a great job. It's incredible how much dirt can be in a carpet. If you have pets, no matter how well you vacuum beforehand and no matter how often you clean it, the amount of hair that it brings up will amaze and horrify you.
Overall, we have been quite happy with this machine and would definitely recommend it."

Not at all happy!

"I had high hopes for this cleaner-we are in the midst of moving and need to clean carpets in existing and future home. On the water tank, the top latch would never seal onto the water supply tank and it required considerable intervention to get the two pieces to fit together securely so that we could operate the unit propertly. Once we "fiddled" with the two pieces, the unit was a great cleaner."

Cleans well, but has some quality issues

"I spoke to several people who own vacuum shops, and who repair vacuums and related products.

They all told me that when this machine works, it works well. However, there are numerous known issues with it, and every repairman I talked to said that it is extremely difficult for them to repair.

A few even said they flat out refuse to do repairs on these machines, as it may take them 10 minutes to replace the part, but it can take them an hour to successfully put the machine back together into a working order, and they often need to take it apart and put it back together numerous times to get it to work. A real awkward machine to do service on.

Also, the water and detergent solution is dispensed via a pump, which is a common part that needs to be replaced.

The tubes inside the machine which carry the water and detergent are very narrow, and clog easily, especially if there is any residue left in the machine after use. If you rinse your carpets with hot water after using the detergent, that may be enough to fend off that problem, but it's hard to say.

It is a good idea to rinse your carpets with plain hot water after shampooing them. Shampoo that is left in the carpet can actually attract more dirt!

I found this machine did an excellent job of sucking up remaining water from the carpet. Just move the machine very very slowly, a few inches at a time, and you will see the water being sucked out of the carpet. When you see no more water being extracted, move onto the next section.

This carpet cleaner comes on sale several times per year, and is certainly a better value at the sale price.

If possible, when purchasing an expensive item like this which is prone to having problems, make the purchase on a credit card that offers extended warranty protection, so that you can get an extra year of warranty through the credit card company.
Not all cards offer this, so check with your bank."

Money Well Spent

"As a person who purchases a lot of profesional tools for my job, I was sceptical when buying this extractor. Many products look good but fail to perform the job at hand.
After using this extractor many times, I cannot believe how well it works. The ease of use is amazing. Very quiet motor, well built and cleans like professional cleaner.
Only drawback I found is the fresh water resevoir is a bit small and using it for a large job requires numerous trips to the tap.
All in all, I would recommend this product for someone who is looking for a quality carpet cleaner for a very reasonable price.
Nice to find a company who still builts a quality product!"

Money well spent

"We've had the 2x for about 3 weeks now, and have very successfully cleaned most of our carpets and stairs. Overall very pleased, just a couple of small suggestions.

Firstly, when moving the machine with the trigger depressed, try releasing the trigger about 6 - 9 inches prior to where you're planning to stop. The fluid doesn't stop spraying immediately, so this cuts down on excess fluid at the ends of your rows.

Similarly, moving the machine more quickly while squeezing the trigger, then *very* slowly when sucking up the liquid. This reduces the quantity of water and solution that's used, and improves drying time significantly.

As far as the cleaning solution goes... We had a another smaller machine prior to the 2x, so we learned that the recommended concentration of cleaning solution is somewhat excessive. At times, we've just used just hot water with no cleaning solution, which works well by itself. Thus, with the 2x, we use about 7/8 water in the solution tank, and about 1/8 of the concentrated Bissell cleaner. This cuts down on the cost, seems to be just as effective.

Overall we're very pleased with the 2x, and would recommend it to anyone who wants clean carpets."

Very Pleased with results

"Bought this to clean my basement carpet after a flood. Yep, sewage backup, not pretty. It did a remarkable job! Took a bit of work, and a lot of cleaner/disinfectant, but was able to salvage the carpet and padding. I don't think this was what the manufacturer intended it to be used for, but it did a great job anyway. Money well spent!"

Rinsing is an optional step that can be done during the cleaning process by switching from one of the clean settings on the Custom Clean dial to a water rinse setting, or it can be done after the
carpeted area has been cleaned.

The BISSELL ProHeat 2X is a deep cleaning machine that uses hot tap water and has an on board heater to maintain the temperature of the hot water while you are cleaning and makes the BISSELL cleaning formula release the cleaning properties for maximum cleaning performance. For your “bed bug” situation you can use the Tough Stain Brush accessory and hose to spray cleaning solution onto your upholstery, stairs or mattress as the heater also heats the cleaning solution through the hose. The strong suction when cleaning either your carpets, rugs or using the hose and accessory will recover the dirty water which will also suction up the insects and you simply then empty the dirty water tank down the drain. The cleaning formula has properties that will apply a “slippery” effect and release the grip of the bed bugs from the surface. Do not use boiling water as it will affect the machine. I hope this is of assistance.
