Good value
It's hard to light when cold and tends to smoke badly when you open it suddenly. Unlike some other designs, it has no bypass damper for these situations. if you follow the instructions and leave the door open a crack for 3-5 minutes, the smoke will draft up the chimney while tending the fire.
Getting the fire going again from tiny coals is almost magical. Just put in some dry wood and open the damper. Within minutes you will have a blazing fire. Warning: never leave the damper open and unnattended; you will overfire the stove and probably ruin it. It gets very hot!
The included brass trim looks cheap and tacky. Moreover, it is covered with a thin film of plastic that will fill your house with smoke if you don't remove it before use. There's nothing in the manual to warn you about this! The stove looks better without this trim anyway - just remove it like I did at 02:00 in the morning.
The standard rear fan is noisy, but effective.
If you are placing this on a hearth, I recommend the cast legs. They look very nice and make cleanup under the stove easy. You cannot use these legs in a trailer unless you reinforce and fireproof the floor.
This stove accepts less firewood than you might expect. The stainless steel re-burner tubes get in the way of upper logs. The manual recommends filling the firebox no higher than the firebrick. In practice this often means a single layer of logs on the bottom.
Best burn times - damper closed - are about 9-10 hours; less than I expected. The stove produces little heat in this condition and also tends to foul the front glass. The glass is easily cleaned with a mid-damper setting for a couple hours; the gunk burns off when the stove is hot.
There is no thermostat on this stove. All adjustments are manual.
I would recommend it to anybody who is experienced in heating with wood. A newbie should consider a higher-end model with more 'idiot-proof' features, however.

Main heat source poor choice
Purchased this stove Dec. 23rd, 2011. Had a new approved Selkirk chimney installed in accordance with fire & building code as well as manufacturer's spec. System inspected and W.E.T. certified for insurance. Performed poor last winter but assumed it was due to quality of wood. This year have 2 year seasoned & dry maple. Below average heat output for our 1800 sq/ft home. Maximum burn time of 2 hours. Consumes a lot of wood. Called manufacturer's technical help line. Said to remove & clean 4 re-burn tubes. Did as instructed & found no issue with tubes. No improvement with performance. Manufacturer declined request for additional assistance (in USA). Was exspensive, doesn't perform, weighs a ton and stuck in our basement. Now what do we do?

great stove
we have a very big house 2.5 stories with 9 foot ceilings.we bought this stove in sept and had it installed in october along with a new stainless steel chimney.we then bought the fan that sits on top of the stove,we couldn't believe how well this stove heats our house,we have the stove in our dining room and the temp in our kitchen is usually 22-25 degrees our upstairs 22-24. i realize that we haven't had much cold weather yeat but we never loaded much wood in the stove either.we are very pleased with this stove

Primary Heat Source
I have installed this stove as my primary heat source in my 1200 square foot cabin. I have converted to wood from oil. This stove is amazing. After installing the correct chimney, the installation of the stove was super easy. The EPA idea works!! It keeps the cabin toasty warm, and looks elegant. Load it with 4 logs at night, and you are good 'till the morning. The ash drawer is a major advantage. You don't need to let the fire go out to clean out the ashes. I couldn't be happier.

Not like the picture!
I just got this stove home.
I bought it in the crate and had the store employees load it for me. They loaded it on it's side.
Even though the crate is not marked "This side up" or anything like that, do *not* let it get loaded any way except upright.
The stove is all black, no gold highlights, which I could live with; but there is no pedestal base, which is the main reason I wanted it. And the clearances are _huge_, like minimum corner clearance is 17" when most comparable stoves is 12"-to-13".
Completely dissatisfied, it's going back tomorrow.
