Great for the price

"We've been running this humidifier in our bedroom during the winter months for past three years and replace the filter every year. The resevoir is just enough to run overnight and is not heavy and fills quickly.

It is loud but that's why we like it. It's great white noise and actually helps me sleep. Recently we just had a baby and the noise is excellent to help her sleep as well.

I have tried to find a replacement which will run longer, but have returned three different models and keep going back this good old reliable unit."

ok humidifier but poorly designed

"and NOISY even on LOW. Main problem is the ridiculous design of the tank and the handle.

The handle on top should be flat and flush with the top of the tank so that we can set the tank in the sink while filling with tap water. Our old HOLMES was 4 times the capacity or more and became too heavy to handle.

First time I tried to fill this 2 gal tank I could not believe that I had to keep holding the tank under the tap, that I could NOT rest it on the bottom of the sink.

REALLY POOR DESIGN HONEYWELL ! !

I am truly surprised!"

Works good but loud

"I had a huge Holmes 2 tank unit that was very quiet you never knew it was on. Now in a smaller apartment I bought this unit. It works great but loud on "low" setting. But for the price it's worth it."

Loud but works great

"I bought this on Saturday for my small condo and it has worked wonderfully. Yes, it's loud but I've put it in a corner of my living room and the noise isn't intrusive. It has put enough moisture in the whole apartment that I'm not getting zapped every time I touch a light switch or even my wrought iron bed! I love it! Well worth the $36!!!"

"Somtimes it works, like attimes the fan moves but the water still full in 12 hrs. dont know whats the issue. Hit and miss thing.

It's going back

"Set it up at the far corner of the house (1500 sq. ft. house) and could hear it at the opposite corner of the house – with the TV on! Man this thing is loud. I would find it hard to believe anyone could sleep with this thing running."

works ok but louder than larger fan models

"This little guys works okay however we can't use it in the bedroom at night because even the lowest setting is quite loud. We also own the much bigger Honeywell 6013i and this little one is even louder than the big one."

Does the filter need to be replaced?

Does the filter in the humidifier need to be replaced regularly or just rinse clean? if so, how often?

Answer:

The filter should be cleaned on a weekly basis, and replaced after being stored for a period of time. It is not recommended to store with a used filter in it.

Answer:

Honeywell Premium Replacement Humidifer Filter with Air Washing Technology "Filter C" is in big red drop shape on front of green/blue box, red band with Honeywell in white lettering. Bottom right corner it says: Model HC-888N. It costs $12.98 at CT.

This filter/wick has been around for many years so it must work with many different humidifiers. I used it with my old Holmes humidifier.
