Upper fan wheel split and not available
Whilrpool customer service is non-existent. The fan wheel split in half - as others have experienced - and Whirlpool will not replace or even sell one to you. They simply redirect you to another company, HiSense in USA. It is a Chinese company. They did not have parts but directed me to a Canadian company. They also don't have it. That was July 2012 and I have still not been able to get the part after 8 attempts over 10 months. HiSense, on last attempt (May 2013) now says they have no listing.

Don`t Buy this
The warranty is for 1 year only and when the warranty dies you have to fix it yourself. This would not be a problem if they sold parts for it. The fan in the upper part broke and it has been 2 months the whirlpool company will not even take an order for the part. I now have a $500 paperweight sitting in my livingroom

Save Your Money
We bought this machine almost eight months ago to replace our ten-year-old portable unit that is no longer being manufactured. We face south and our unit has to be on pretty much 24/7 throughout the year and our first unit fit the bill, but it died in June on the hottest day of the year-to-date (that set national records). So, this unit was bought on an emergency basis as it was the only one left in the store. Right away, we noticed this machine was:
1. Noisier;
2. Rattled;
3. Had extreme vibration; and
4. Not as effective.
We kept it because it was a pain to return and it was a hot summer, but we will never buy it again, nor will we recommend it to anybody.

poorly enginered
the worst enginered product I think I'v ever purchased it is imposible to drain the water without spilling it all over the floor unless you intend on running this air conditioner in your shower stay away

Excellent product.
The only pet peeve i have is the draining of the unit. You will have to move it to a place to drain it, ex. tub, floor drain,or outside. All though it has been running for 4 days straight and the drain light has still not come on yet. So it's not going to be that much of an inconvience. Works excellent.

Best Purchase I have made
This unit is quiet enough for me to sleep through< and does a great job of cooling, not only the room its in, but about an 800 sq foot area beyond. I love that it can be moved around very easily as well. I love it. P.S. so does my dog!

Not portable and a pain to drain
You would think that the name of this product would imply that it is portable which is only true if lugging around 100 akward lbs fits that criteria. Also this unit must be drained and is a real pain as the lower drain requires you to elevate the unit to empty the water...again it is 100 lbs. It drains akwardly and really needs to be drained in a tiled area (where spilled water will not be an issue)
A self draining window unit would be much more portable and take up less place. Also the hose on this unit pops off easily and is diffficult to get to stay attached to either the unit or the window vent.
that being said it does cool a large room but it is quite loud.

Good unit
This has been a good unit cools the house nice, very quiet, the only problem i have with it is emptying the water out of it is not easy without making a mess.
