Too expensive for one season of use...
Worked well the first summer, but will not start the next season. Customer service is poor and the design quality does not live up to expectations given the price.

Pricey to buy and run but IT WORKS!!!
My family and I live on a 17acre bush lot on a designated wetland. We own two of these units and swear by them. The first was purchased in 2010 for the log cabin in the back of the property while we built the house. If you walked 100' away you were swarmed, and I mean swarmed. When you RAN back to the 'safety zone', you could wear shorts and t-shirt even at night. Yes there are a few buzzing around still, but not enough to even think about putting on long clothes, and most times not even any bug spray. Serious.
Once the house was built in 2011 about 600' away in another location in the bush, we bought a second one. The tree line is 100' from the house and 20' from the pool. We sit on the back deck, at the pool, at the fire pit, my kids play in the woods right there, and NO MOSQUITOS. This thing works.
The 2nd unit would not light. I took it back and got another and have not had a problem. Just started them both up tonight no problem, and looking forward to another hassle free year.
BTW, at our last place without this thing, surrounded by pavement and short grass, we could not even sit outside at night. Now living in the woods, no problem.
I need a 20lb tank every 3 weeks, a sticky trap every 3 weeks or sooner # they really catch the deer flies#, and an octanol every 6 weeks.
Do yourself a favour, put the bug spray down #not away you will still need a small wee bit here and there depending on the wind and placement# and buy one of these.

Not Cheap but the product really works!!!
Our family has been using these items for years! We started with one and noticed a significant reduction in the number of mosquitoes. However, dawn, dusk and damp days still brought out significant volumes of the buggers. We currently run 3 now from April to September and we can spend all hours of the day outside on our property with very few signs of any biting mosquitoes. It has been great for our small children as they don't need to wear bug spray, while playing on the property.
The devices do stop igniting for some reason after about a year, so we only buy them now using a credit card which doubles the manufacture warranty as we know they will fail eventually. We have never had an issue getting a replacement when one fails.
Lures and traps are expensive, however, we purchase them in bulk in the US, such as 3 lures for $25 or 4 Packages of 2 Tac Traps
& 2 Packages of 3 lures for $116 which significantly reduces the cost.
Again not cheap but they work!

Made our Spring and Summer better
We love the outdoors but at certain times of the year in Northern Ontario, it is just unbareable to be outside because the bugs eat you alive....mosquitos and blackflies mostly. Short of dousing yourself with a bunch of disgusting mosquito repellent, there is no tolerating it. We also have a little one who is too young for bug spray so that was obviously a problem if we wanted to spend any time in our back yard. When we got the Skeeter Vac, we did get it on sale but it was still quite expensive and there is a maintenance cost if you want it to keep working. Propane every month and tack trap costs a bit too, we did use the repellent but I only used one all season and it kept working....maybe it would have worked even better if I had replaced it but they are expensive. That being said and $ aside, it worked wonders and made our yard enjoyable again. We had friends who live just down the street over for a BBQ and they could not believe the difference in our yard compared to theirs which they did not even go outside especially in the evenings. My husband and I also found we stopped using OFF Power pads which also cost money so we saved there and also they are poison, so once again nice to avoid. All in all, we would definitely recommend and I love it because it made gardening enjoyable again. Some people mentioned difficulty starting it back up after changing the tank, we had no problems with that and it lighted quite nicely.

Catches mosquitoes galore!
I have been using it for around 3 months ; I live in the maritimes near a lake and a swamp so there is abundant mosquitoes. Catches plenty of mosquitoes in the filter, and a lot of flies on the sticky paper. The filter can be filled with mosquitoes in a day or two! Down side is it empties the propane tank in about 3 weeks.

Doesn't catch mosquitos.
Without the stupidly expensive "Octenal Lure" in it, this model is only good at catching flies and dandelion fluff.
I bought the SV-31 unit last year to replace the SV-15 unit I had been struggling with for 3 years.
Having monitored it for just over a year now, I can tell you that the propane tank only lasts 22 days compared to 30 days on the SV-15. This unit burns more propane to run the intake fan and flashing LED lights. The intake fan filter catches a lot of dandelion and tree fluff floating around, as well as many tiny, non-mosquito bugs. The sticky trap catches many flies that are not black flies, but no mosquitoes.
The SV-15 actually caught a lot of mosquitoes on the sticky tape, but it was horribly designed: propane filter would clog and it was anyone's guess if it would relight; had no spare parts and was non-serviceable according to the manufacturer.
The SV-31 runs great, always starts but doesn't catch mosquitoes like the SV-15.
It was a very expensive experiment and risk I took to try and get a better product than the Skeetervac SV-15. Huge disappointment.

AMAZING PRODUCT!!
We live in a very woodsy part of Northern Ontario where it was impossible to enjoy anytime outdoors. We purchased this product 4 weeks ago and last night noticed that the bug popuation has significantly dropped off! Hardly any mosquitos or black flies - well worth the money. As others have said, it is a bit dificult to light, but if you follow the directions exactly and be patient, it lights. You will hear the fan and know when its running. Best purchase ever and worth the money when I think of how much we've spent on repellants and other gimmicks to try to save oursevles!

SkeeterVac works GREAT
I have had my Skeetervac for 3 seasons. I have a camp in the middle of New Brunswick along a river and small lake. For the 12 years before having this no one could stay outside long enough to go to the truck. Now we can enjoy sitting on the deck and having an enjoyable time. This thing catches Black flies, hoarse flies, blow flies, midges (no se-ims) and yes loads and loads of Skeeters. I get about 16-18 days per 20 pound tank of LPG. The paper fills up in 7 days full of bugs. I empty the screen ever 2-3 days when I am there.
As far as people not being able to light this product correctly you must read the instructions and follow them to the letter.
If you make a mistake in the lighting sequence you must let the skeeterVac cool down completely before relighting it. This fact is a must I have made this mistake and you must always let it cool down completely before relighting.
If this broke down I would purchase another one IMMEDIATELY.

don't bother
I have had little company support. Like other reviewers listen up. too much money and too frustrating. Hard to light and don't know if it will. Company will sell you parts but they don't even seem to know what will work. Pick other brands not this one.
