very good unit, but question to other users
2 questions actually.
Mine seems very slow to transition from from low speed to high speed, or visa versa. There is a noticeable 2 - 3 second delay. It gets tiring waiting on it all the time. When I am bent over killing my back, I want every second to be as productive as I can. A reasonable1 second wait wouldn't be too bad, but that extra 2 seconds every time gets old. Does anyone else's do this?
Mine also feels like it barely has enough oil, cuz in the cooler weather, it sometimes doesn't want to push unless I lift bleeder valve end up. My oil level from new is not quite at halfway between the marks. Did all your units come with oil up to the full mark? I am wondering if both my questions are oil-level related. Yet according to dipstick is fine. Perhaps their low level notch in stick should be a lot higher?

No more axe
Purchased the 6.5 ton wood splitter today to replace my axe lol. Started splitting wood right after we unboxed it,after splitting five blocks of wood 12.5 x16 there is no way we could have split them in that short of time with an axe. Lots of power, would recommend this wood splitter and love the two speed.

Great product for a great price
I purchased this unit in the fall of 2011 and have split over 20 cords of maple, spruce, and poplar. Some blocks required two of us to lift on. I built a stand to make it waste high, which is a must if you split a lot of wood. I was skeptical to purchase for this amount of use, but I am not disappointed.

Great splitter with a few annoyances.
I bought the unit last fall (2011) to split maple, oak, poplar, birch 16†logs. I have used gas splitters and, although they worked well, the noise, fumes and large size were downsides.
I have AC power available and decided to try the unit out.
It worked extremely well and split even the toughest logs I threw at it!
A few issues are:1. It really needs to be raised to about hip level for easy use. 2. The tire stems are a weird size and a bicycle pump end is too large - had to use a compressor chuck to fill them - but they’ve stayed filled 3. The two handed use is a bit of a pain - holding the lower green button and then moving the lever is awkward, especially the times when you need to steady or push a split log. A foot switch for the green button would be very handy and safer. That's why I gave it four stars.
I definitely like it and hope it continues to work as well as it has. For the price - great product.

Yardworks 6 Ton Electric Log Splitter
I just bought this unit the other day and used it right away. I was very impressed from the start. With the weather being rainy and very cold, the logs were even frozen at times. it really wasn't an issue for this unit. Popped em like a cork out a bottle. Love it so far, glad I bought it!!
My only issues are that it has a narrow wheel base and tends to want to topple as you pull it (Bumpy terrain). I think too if the handle was extendable to make it easier to pull around. Also the stand would be an asset as it is low to the ground.

Greatest "little logsplitter in town"
We have a friend who has one of the larger log splitters, but decided to try this 6.5 ton out. Since it is only for our own use. It worked just great. Able to split a 12 " log without problems

The Green Beast
Extremely heavy duty. Weights 172 lbs with pneumatic wheels not found on most splitters. The 4 or 6 ton option found on this model will not disappoint. Very powerful on oak logs that are difficult to lift. Installed a professional grade foot pedal in place of the on/off switch. Prevents bending over and keeps face away from splitting area.

Better and better
A neighbor lent me the 4 tons.
I liked it so much that I bought the 6,5 tons model.
If the 4 tons would hesitate with the larger logs, the 6,5 tons, on low speed, simply breaks it clear.
It will split about 90% of the logs on high speed
( faster then the 4 tons model ).
The extra money is worth paying for

Exellent product
I have used gas splitters in the past,But nothing compares to this 6 ton electric splitter! No gas fumes,No noise,No headaches! Me and my 2 girls have spilt more than 10 Loads of wood!!!!!! In this past spring. Mostly maple,That i could barely put my arms around! I couldn't find a piece that the machine couldn't spilt!!!! Highly recomended! 2 thumbs up!!!!!

Awesome spliter
I bought this log splitter 4 years ago. Ive done about 30 + cords with it with not even ONE problem.
I just keep up on maintenance and leave the front valve open all the time and it works flawlessly. Only leave it open if your using it, if your moving it close it completely.
Ive split some massive pieces with it (approx 35" + across or bigger) with no problems. Hardwood and softwood.
I like it as i can split wood in the winter in my warm basement beside my cozy wood furnace with no exhaust fumes from a gas powered unit.
Nothing splits like a 20T gas unit though if you can swing that much cash for one.
I highly recommend it, just keep up on maintenance and keeping everything clean and the hydro oil topped up and it will last you.
Besides that the paint chips off after awhile that's the only thing i can find negative, but after all this use ive put it through that's to be expected.
I will just powder coat it in my shop when i get time.
