For People Who Don't Like Gas Powered Tools
I purchased this to avoid breathing the exhaust fumes of my gas trimmer and not bother with hearing protection. On that basis, it does well. After a year of use, I have not figured out how to make the line advance automatically by following the manufacturers post-purchase support instructions. The trimmer does a professional job of surface edging but the cap falls off the edging wheel sometimes despite my attempts to tighten. The spring for rotating the head is so strong I have to use two hands to make the adjustment. It is more difficult to get into the tight corners than with my gas trimmer. Charging and storing batteries and charger is just as much trouble as filling gas for me but at least there are no trips to the gas station. Its very annoying that you can not get the 40v hedge trimmer or blower without the battery in Canada despite what the photo on the box which shows the battery works with other Greenworks 40v tools. I already have 3 batteries from purchasing the trimmer and mower so I don't need more. The thin line makes a clean cut but it is a slow process with only one line instead of two lines cutting at once like my gas trimmer.

good so far
Used it once after the purchase and I am liking it so far. I have other greenworks tools too so the battery are same. The battery is quite durable and charges pretty quick.

Not what I'd hoped!
I bought this trimmer and the 40V Twin Blade Greenworks mower at the same time - LOVE the mower, the trimer not so much!
The only upside is the battery charges quickly.
The first downside is the unit is joined by a screw-on cap which comes apart from the vibration while using the trimmer. It actually came apart and the trimmer end hit me in the head while I was using it!
As others have said, the line gets jammed and does not come out consistently, even with normal use.
Lastly, the design of the battery/trigger area is cumbersome and not ergonimically healthy to hold, in fact it hurt my wrist the first time using it. There seems to be no comnfortable way to hold the trigger portion!
It's also kind of heavy for a battery-powered trimmer!
I had high hopes for it - it looks good and 40V is enough power to do front & back of a very large yard, but too many downsides are a deal-breaker!
It's going back, and I'm switching back to Black & Decker's new Lithium Ion battery trimmer.

No a good tool
I don't recommend this product. 2 years later, I have to buy a new one.

Not too good ..
Bought this over a year ago, and it's too bulky, string doesn't auto-feed, guide wheel fell off, and stops for no reason ...
Wish I could return it and buy a Black and Decker ..

Trimmer
This trimmer is great if you hate the loud sound of gas trimmers and the inconvenience of lugging around an extension cord.
