El-cheapo chimney
I bought one of these chimneys and it lasted exactly one season before it disintegrated. The gauge of metal used in the construction is thin, the rivets burn out easily, and the handle is unwieldy. In addition, compared to other chimneys this one is difficult to control - better chimney starters have a second wire bail handle so you can better control where you are pouring your lit charcoal.
This chimney also got way too hot using lump charcoal, and is barely adequate for briquettes. I'd rather spend my money on a Weber or Steven Raichlen chimney starter than this one. My Weber chimney is bigger, has a bail handle, cost $20 and has lasted 10 years - this one cost $5 less and lasted only one season. You do the math.

Make Using Charcoal So Easy
Lighting Charcoal can be hard but trust me get this Charcoal Chimney and you will find out just how easy it is to use charcoal. I just make a small fire in the bottom place my charcoal on top let it burn for 10 to 15 min and pour them in my grill and the are ready to use . I BBQ about 4 to 5 times a week when weather is good and I have had no problems with this Charcoal Chimney and it is holding up great .

Use this for Small Campfires
This is a great device with a perfect design. I use it to have a little fire in the backyard for heat, light and cooking source for one/two people.
It is easy to start some dry wood with newspaper and accepts really any small pieces of whatever is woody and lying around. The reason I bought was to use in places with fire risk and rules such as public parks and back yards in strata complexes. It is very efficient and funny enough I found it sparked only when using the hardwood charcoal from CT, but not using barkmulch, small sticks and old fence boards/posts. The great thing about it is perfectly designed for blowing in to fan the flames, but you can stack the wood to some extent like a open fire to create a steady, longer burning heat.
I am planning on buying more of these for my friends who like hiking and picknicking and are comfronted with fire bans. I have been carrying around larger awkward charcoal bbqs on buses, motorcycles and in car trucks for many years, waiting and waiting for something like this to come out. I can imagine that someone hiking could use this to cook on instead of bringing a liquid fuel stove.
I only wish I knew what they were made of and if they are safe to use long term for BBQing meat on a stick.

Only way
Not much to say, a round can with a handle, and holes at the bottom. Only way to light charcoal. No fluid necessary, and no fluid taste. Just add newspaper and light.

Great purchase
Was interested if this method was better than fluid.. My word my charcoal got hotter faster than using charcoal fluid. I'm impressed.

Proper Way to Light Charcoal
Stuff a bit of newspaper in the bottom, charcoal in the top and light it. That's the proper way to light the charcoal. Plus it looks pretty cool when it gets red hot.
